4.5 star ratingVery quiet area but so close to the centre of Edinburgh - brilliant for our weekend away!09 December 2008
4.5 star ratingStaff were extremely helpful and willing. Location is excellent, being within easy walking distance of all the city's landmarks and major shopping, but just far enough away from the bars/clubs etc to be quiet and restful. We shall definitely stay there again.HindleG.27 February 2013

5.0 star ratingThe staff was pleasant and helpful. We had a lovely room, probably one of the nicest we ever had, and very clean. The location was perfect, quiet and green, yet an easy walk to the central area. The full Scottish breakfast was excellent. I wish we could have stayed longer. 14 September 2013
2.0 star ratingGreat Location and the rooms where clean and up to date but still had its authentic character. NiceOn arrival we where greeted with the most miserable person on any reception desk in the world, never greeted us with good morning sir / madam instesad we got a plain yes !!. First Impressions and all that. Stood around at the bar at lunchtime for 20 mins after ringing the bell to be served, when we asked if we could eat lunch we where told that food was limited. So we walked into town to have lunch. The next morning we had breakfast and the service was diabolical, one girl serving a breakfast toom of 15 tables on her own then eventually another girl joined her towards the end. We had the full scottish breakfast and never got offered tea or coffee, we where told to "help yourself to the breakfast bar" and that was that. Each dish we recieved of the Full Scottish Breakfast was cold, not even luke warm. at this point we had given up and ate the toast. When the girl came to pick up the plate we where expecting her to ask "was everythingok / alright" but instead we got "let me take those away for you" didnt even realise that very little had been eaten of the plate. The final point came on check out when to check out not even "thank you" hope you enjoyed your stay" was everything ok" hope to see you in the future" absolelutely nothing. Need less to say I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. !!!Bazil10020 November 2014
