4.5 star ratingVery friendly and courteous at check-in, and as I stay there regularly I am recognised and made to feel welcome. Breakfast is very good. Dinners are reasonably priced and the bar is pleasant.01 December 2008
4.5 star ratingfantastic location, even though directly accross from train station, there was no noise. Staff very friendly and helpfull, lovely breakfast in the morning. The decor was a little bit dated, and could do with a deep clean around edges of carpets, and also in corners. But what you would want spotloss was, i.e beds, bathroom.01 December 2008

3.5 star ratingvery professional and helpful staff. holding bags before and after check in was a real help. Would stay here again. Even the breakfast staff couldnt do enough for us. Rooms were spacious and very cleanThe only thing I would say that was negative was that a) The entrance lobby from the street had an awful fusty smell. b) The carpets throughout need changing. There were pieces of tape holding parts of it together.k murray10 November 2009
4.0 star ratingVery good personnel/ service. Decent sized rooms and plenty facilities within wrt food and service. Very convenient to major Edinburgh sites and transport networks (just across road from Waverley station)Maybe a little threadbare in parts eg carpeting and Edinburgh generally can have high cost at certain times of year. No major negatives01 June 2010
4.0 star ratingStaff very pleasant and helpful. Room very modern and beatifully decorated, very clean.. Perfectly situated for all facilities in the city. Directly opposite Waverley Railway Station. Would most definitely stay again.Reception area and restaurant quite dated and in need of refurb.18 July 2010
4.5 star ratingThis was the third or even fourth time that I have used this hotel over the years and the fact that I keep returning I think speaks for itself. It is ideally positioned in the very heart of Edinburgh with bus and rail connections a few steps away. The rooms are pleasant and clean. The staff are friendly and efficient. Can't really think of anything else that you could ask of a reasonably priced hotel such as this.Bathgate Snail09 February 2011
3.5 star ratingBeste Citylage und Verkehrsanbindung. Krach durch Bauarbeiten vom Feinsten. Generelle Wartezeit auf das Frühstück 25-30 Minuten bei lustlosem Personal.Tattoofan24 August 2011
3.5 star ratingVery central and very good value for money. Room very sizeable and warm which essential for a winter visit.Pretty well none as we did not eat or drink in Hotel. but could if we wished.Luke28 February 2013
4.5 star ratingTraditional high class hotel. In its hayday, i can see the rich and famous enjoying all the hotel has to offer.I am sure the more modern and less class structured clients, will also enjoy their stay as we did.The view from our room was lovely. In need of refurb, dresser door hinges slack, doors drop when opened.carpets and decration in need of attention. On the night of the 30th, we found a an individual lying, what seemed to be worst the wear, across the entrance to our room.Iimformed reception, who in turn requested police assistance, they removed the chap. very entertaining, thoiugh my poor wife had a sleepless night. I trust the forgoing is of some interest. Colin walker.06 April 2013

2.5 star ratinggood locationunder renovation. Room was on 4th floor in the "attic". no lift from 3rd floor. Broken blinds, wonky toilet seat, leaking wash basin. Overpriced for what we got.Anonymous 10 June 2014
3.0 star ratingRestaurang og spisesal var topp. Fortsatt mye møkk og byggearbeid i korridorer etc. Mye lukt og støv derav. Ønsker nå ikke å ligge her mer før det er ferdig rehabilitert.Duksen28 July 2015
