3.5 star ratingHad no problems with hotel. Would stay again. First morning when we went for breakfast, no one asked if we knew how breakfast worked. It was only on day 3 that staff asked us. Feel that you should be shown to a table by staff. 16 August 2008
3.5 star ratingLobby and professionalism of the staff were excellent. We had food in the morning and it was great and well presented. Great location to the castle and getting aroundthe individual rooms were a disappointed, we found them to be very average and based on the cost we did expect something of better quality. It could be just us but you need to remember at 117 pounds the cost is actually over $240 canadian dollars and at that cost you expect a 4 star hotel room30 September 2008
4.5 star ratingA very welcoming hotel close to all the attractions.None01 November 2008
3.5 star ratingVery clean, functional rooms. A good place for a cheap stop over.Reception staff were flustered and not particularly efficient. As the first impression of the hotel this is not impressive.25 November 2008

5.0 star ratingi very goods, clean and fine hotel, best location in Edinburgh. Food in this hotel is too good and value for money. View from hotel is fab. I personlly recommend this hotel to everyone who want to go Edinburgh.no Negatives01 January 2009
4.0 star ratingEverything about the hotel was great. The location was brilliant, just a couple of mins from Princes Street. Breakfast was included in our price and there was a good selection of foods to choose from. The staff were efficient and friendly. Overall I found this hotel to be great value for money and would certainly recommend it to anyone. The only negatvie was the view from our hotel room, we looked the back of the hotel where the rubbish bins where stored. But given the price we payed, we weren't complaining and besides it was only for sleeping in05 January 2009
3.5 star ratingvery good location it was very very noisy due to the parties every night at the lobby. we couldn't sleep26 December 2008

5.0 star ratingFantastic location for all local amenities, tours and attractions. Secure Hotel. Rooms really clean, large & comfortable. Food really good. Great price including breakfast. Lovely view over Carlton Hill. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. made use of the luggage room as we still had sightseeing to do after check-out. Would be my first and only choice for any future stay in Edinburgh. Could not believe that you could fit 3 people in to a room so comfortably. Nothing21 February 2009
3.5 star ratingTop location, well presented, excellent breakfastFamily room small, 1 double bed and 1 single fold out bed, despite 2 adults andd 2 kids booking in. When queried size of room, was told to put both kids in the same bed ! 03 March 2009
4.5 star ratingBright, quick, and friendly check in friendly staff throughout the hotel, although some had difficulty understanding English good location for exploring EdinburghHotel brochure claimed ice machines on each floor, but in actual fact they did not exist. Ice could only be obtained from bar. Lack of local maps07 April 2009
5.0 star ratingvery central one complaint why dont you consider discount parking as it is very expensive to park your carexcellent well run hotel23 March 2009
2.5 star ratingClose to city centreBooked approx 1 month in advance for thee nights but on arrival was informed that due to a computer error the hotel was overbooked for our first night so we had to move on to another hotel for one night and return the following day for the remaining 2 nights. Bar was very noisy each time we entered, even at breakfast time. 21 April 2009
4.5 star ratingGood Breakfast and room extremely clean and tidyEnsuite was dirty with hairs all over the floor. Shower wasn't very clean either. The two bed side lights in the room weren't working either.15 April 2009
4.0 star ratingExcellent location, 2 min walk to waverly station and 2 milnutes to high street and abt 10 min to royal mile. Convenient for sight seeing. Good restaurants and bar inside. Slight issues with cleanliness, though towels were changed and bed made bathroom and room not cleaned as thoroughly as expected.London traveller with young child to Edinburgh10 April 2009

4.5 star ratingvery clean hotel and room, great location and booking in and out times were minted. breakfast was on for 3 hrs between 8 and 11 which i thought very good aswell although my opinion of the food was not as good as i expected it to be, but i would recomend this hotel to anyone visiting edinburgh city centre as it is very central and right next door to waverley station.18 November 2009
4.5 star ratingExcellent LocationNo heating or hot water. have made complaint direct to hotelMrs K Smith12 January 2010
3.5 star ratingExcellent central location, there is a passageway to the rear of the hotel that leads straight to the royal mile. The staff were very pleasent and helpful and breakfast was good quality. There is a carpark nearby and hotel guests receive a 25% discount. We were travelling with two small children and a sofa bed was provided to accomodate them. Although this is made perfectly clear at the time of booking, we were suprised at how cramped the room became when the sofa bed was extended. We were initially given a damp room, with a strong foisty smell, the reception staff arranged a new room immediaty, however, it was very inconvenient and should have been picked up before the room was allocated to guests.Family of four01 January 2010

4.5 star ratingIt wasn't the savoy by any standard but comfortable, clean and warm and affordable which is just what you need when the only time you are in the room is to sleep. The shower didn't drain quick enough.DB07 February 2010
5.0 star ratingVery central and easily accessible from rail station.Sleeping facilities rather tight for a family of four. the fold out bed not suitable for two children,so my youngest had to share with us, just as well she's small for her age!PUFFLES18 February 2010

4.0 star ratingGreat hotel, brilliant location for getting anywhere in Edinburgh, close to central station and airport bus drop off/pick-up points. Clean, tidy Although the room was nice and had the basics, the hairdryer was in an awkward location no where near a mirror nor was their any plug sockets near a mirror to be able to use your own, only 1 socket available to be able to plug your phone charger into but was opposite side to the room to the bed. Shower quite difficult to use anon15 March 2011
4.5 star ratingWe thought the hotel was very good value for money and would stay there again. It was quiet and comfortable, and very centrally located. Unexpectedly, probably because there were only 2 double rooms available, we were allocated a disabled access room, so we had the benefit of a lot of extra space! The cooked breakfast suffered from the food being overcooked by being out on display, although many more expensive hotels I have stayed in have done no better. My wife had porridge, which has to be ordered specially, and she was very happy with that.Happy bunny21 June 2011
4.0 star ratingGood location for the Royal Mile and for Waverley station. Close to all the tourist attractions. Was disappointed with the portions and quality of the porridge in a scottish hotel!24 September 2011

4.5 star ratingGreat location for walking around the cityRoom 524 had a constant 'hum' from the heating? Still slept ok thanks to a wee dram or two.31 December 2013
4.5 star ratingRoom excellent, stall really friendly and helpful.Bar facilities not on a par with other Jury's Inns we have stayed in, Glasgow (excellent), Newcastle (very good), Leeds (also excellent). Actual furniture, soft furnishings okay ,however layout not good, not welcoming and very draughty and cold on the day we stayed. 09 January 2014
5.0 star ratingNice LocationGeorge & Kate05 April 2014
3.5 star ratingRoom was spacious, comfortable. Staff were incredibly sharp and professional, as well as friendly and responsive for the most part. Breakfast has a decent variety. We had free wifi, and the connection dropped every five minutes and required reconnecting - incredibly poor. The toilet seat was not clean when we arrived and remained dirty after the first time the room was made - we had to call housekeeping to come up and specifically clean the toilet on our second day.YN20 July 2015
