4.5 star ratingFriendly, professional and attentive staff. We would have like a little bit more storage facilities in the room with just a wardrobe to keep clothes in, whilst the television sat on a quite large cupboard which only contained cups and two glassesD.D.25 October 2009
5.0 star ratingvery central hotel efficient staff lovely rooms and spa worth a visitchristmas parties over the weekend if you were located near these they didnt finish til after 1am and music would be very loud09 December 2009
4.5 star ratingVery pleasant stay, good location, easy access to main tourists attractions, staff all very competant and accomodating. The only negative aspect really was the price , we booked well in advance and when we arrived the price on the room card showed £86, when in fact we paid £114 each night booking via the agent who according to the receptionists stated that they were discounted. Between the two rooms this was £168 more than the hotel was charging for accomaodation for a standard room the same as what we were in. I will in future book direct with the hotel.15 February 2011

3.0 star ratingWhen we arrived at the Roxburghe on New Year's Eve we were told the hotel was overbooked and we had to be re-located in their sister hotel, the Holyrood which is approx 3 miles away. This was not well received as the very reason we chose the hotel was that it was close to where we'd booked dinner for the evening on George Street as well as being close to the Hogmany celebrations on Princess Street. The hotel offered us taxis as well as complimentary sparkling wine, which did compensate us in some , but it still marred the experience.13 January 2012
3.0 star ratingConcergie were very helpful. No complimentary upgrade, even though the hotel was empty. No complimentary wifi - unheard of for a 4 Star hotel. Paint peeling off the windows, mould/mildew around the windows too. No shower facilities in the pool for men - no forwarning of this on the booking.Gareth Baines26 March 2012
4.5 star ratingThe staff were really friendly and we felt welcome from the moment we came in, the hotel is in a fantastic location and we would have loved to stay longer, we will most likely pick this hotel the next time we visit EdinburghWe stayed in a basic room but I would expect the use of a safe locker, not a massive problem though.Laurence05 April 2012

5.0 star ratingExcellent central location in New Town. Close to shops Initial room (Classic double) seemed ok but after pulling back the curtain to look out the window we found that most of the paint was falking off the window frame and there was a significant amount of mould in one corner. Staff were quick to offer us an alternative room daveang30 April 2012

4.0 star ratingparking was an issue and it would have been useful to knwo before we arrived that we needed to book it. That said the staff were very helpful in sorting it. Saturday breakfast was very busy and we queued for about 10 mins. This is not what I expect at a 4 star hotel. 04 December 2012
5.0 star ratingEverything about the Roxburghe was extremely pleasant. The staff; room; facilities; food; and location were perfect for our needs which was a long week-end in Edinburgh to celebrate a special occasion. When the staff learned my partner was having his 50th birthday on the Saturday, they put a small box of chocolates and a card in our room, very thoughful and a lovely touch. This is just a thought - a real fire in the middle sitting room would have been so welcoming after walking about a very cold Edinburgh. 4.5 star ratingRoom was comfortable and quiet. Bed was one of the comfiest we've ever slept in and breakfast was good.Only negative was that there was a 10-15 minute queue for a table for breakfast but maybe we just happened to be there at the busiest time.24 December 2012
