4.0 star ratingArrived at the hotel at 10.30am to leave bags, was given no information on the room etc. Arrived to check in at 3pm to be told we were not able to check in as the room was not ready. We waited for an hour before leaving our number for them to call once the room was ready. received a call at 5pm saying our room was ready so returned to hotel to find the room was not ready. We were not able to check into our room until 5.45pm. 28 March 2009

5.0 star ratingVery satisfied with the hotel in all regards, could well be my hotel of choice in Edinburgh for the next 5 years. It had the added bonus of being just 50 yards from Waverly, just along the road from the James Shopping center and at the end of Princess Street...Parking around the hotel...free outside the hotel between 6:30pm and 08:30am and all day Sunday if you can get a space. Otherwise NCP at £8:50 for 4 hours!!!Lyn 31 March 2011

5.0 star ratingThe hotel staff were very kind and upgraded us to a superior room as it was our wedding anniversary. The room Was fantastic, there was a bottle of wine waiting for us and nice snacks and galaxy hot chocolate. The swimming pool was good- a bit small but nice to have in a relatively small hotel. Breakfast was nice and the decor standard of the hotel was beautiful. I have no complaints.17 July 2011

5.0 star ratingExcellent, very friendly welcoming staff and superb breakfast/ room serviceNothing to say at all, absolutely great hotelBri15 September 2011
3.5 star ratingThe decor was contemporary and the rooms were a good size and all facilities at the hotel were of a good standard. We arrived late and were in a hurry to get to a function. The receptionist went on to the phone twice while we were left standing - I thought basic training was always the guest in person was priority! Our room had not been cleaned and a guest who had checked out the day before had left stuff in the room and knocked on our door at half eight on the Sunday morning to collect them. Housekeeping should have taken the things to reception and that would have saved us being wakened. We did report this to reception on checking out, were given an apology but were told had we reported the room had not been cleaned as soon as we arrived they could have had it done. We checked in just before seven in the evening and had to get ready and get to a function for 8, so the last thing we needed was someone cleaning the room. I could have understood the room not being ready had we checked in early! It has put me off staying at the hotel again - the decor and facilites become insignificant if basic housekeeping has not been done.04 October 2011

4.5 star ratingWe were only staying 1 night, Superior room was spacious View from room? Didn’t have one as the room allocated was to the side of the building and overlooked another building. Would recommend upgrade to deluxe room if you wanted a view. Elliot's bar prices!!! Enough said.dwjb03 October 2011
4.0 star ratingExcellent location. Very clean and good value for money.Check in not so good. We arrived at 2pm and was told our room wasn't ready and to take a seat in the bar and they would let us know when we were good to go. We waited over 1/2hour then went back to check only to be ionformed that the girl had 'forgotten' about us!27 September 2011

4.5 star ratingQuickly and warmly dealt with at reception on arrival. The hotel was very conveniently located. Absolutely lovely bar area and prices quite reasonable. Very comfortable room and an iron / board much appreciated. Quality of food at breakfast quite good.Dreadful racket from a night club across the street. Despite earplugs I could hear the constant drumming of a "beat". Even my daughter thought it very obtrusive. It went on for hours. Bedrooms on this side of the hotel should be triple glazed. Bar person quite rude as a customer was retelling my daughter the story of his "weak Irish coffee". This conversation was not a complaint but a retelling of how the matter had finally been dealt with by senior management. Listening to a private conversation was out of order as was the particularly cheeky comment the bar maid made: "Go to bed" to the other guest. To my daughter:"You're not being served any more" when she commented that it was rude to listen in to a private conversation. My daughter works in the service industry and was quite shocked at the manner of bar staff. Now there are two sides to every story but I feel a little extra training might not go amiss.25 October 2011

5.0 star ratingGreat staff very friendly made us welcome. Room very clean with great facilities in the room. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat in the hotel. Pool facilities very clean even though there was work being carried out everything was well organised and did not prevent us from using the facilities. Hotel was also in a great location close to train station, shops, pubs ect !! You can access the train station through the lower level of the hotel when leaving !! Great idea!! Great hotel would definatly stay again None !!Hels25 October 2011
5.0 star ratingMy husband and I stayed at the hotel with friends to celebrate a 40th Birthday. We thought the hotel was lovely, staff were all polite, professional and friendly. The hotel is situated in an ideal location for visiting Edinburgh within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. The room was lovely, everything worked and we enjoyed the complimentary tea and coffee - We also found a hair dryer, ironing board and iron :-) I used the spa facilities which was very relaxing and clean - I didn't use the gym but the facilities looked good. We would definately recommentd and would definitely stay in an Apex hotel again in the future. 14 October 2011
4.5 star ratingFantastic location for exploring Edinburgh, just off the end of Princes Street, with everything that Edinburgh city centre has to offer right on your doorstep. A lovely room with a very comfy king size bed, good sized TV and a massive bath. The room quality was everything I would expect from a good 4* hotel. We didn't eat there at all, choosing a room only option and eating out in Edinburgh. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We cannot comment about the fitness suite either as we were only there for the weekend and didn't have time to use them.11 October 2011
4.0 star ratingI thought the hotel was very well located at the end of Princess Street and within walking distance of most shops and activities. It was clean and new with a modern freshness about it. We did not use the pool or gymn but that was a useful facility for guests. The foyer was not traditional and therefore there was no lounge but in support of the hotel it did have a fairly large bar on the ground floor. The service in the restaurant was not good. At our first breakfast my wife did not get her breakfast delivered until I made enquiries and even then others were being served before her. Breakfast took 30 mins to arrive. This put us off eating in the restaurant altogether and we ate out thereafter. The reception desk staff were as you would expect so the only other contact with staff was the restaurant and from our experience that did not present the hotel in a good light. Sadly I would only recommend the hotel for short business type trips.JG11 October 2011

3.5 star ratingStaff very polite and helpful - a real joy.Breakfast was rather mean and too expensive for what was served (why only half a slice of black pudding, ridiculous) Rooms had a nice designer look but weren't very practical, not enough drawer space, wardrobe lighting poor.Jimrushy25 October 2011

3.5 star ratingBedoom was lovely and spacious had a lovely big bath, shower and tv. Very comfy bed. Good choice on breakfast menu. Staff very helpful and we LOVED the left luggage facility that you have. Location and access to train station.Breakfast was busy so we had to ask staff for our toast and for our coffee, toast only done on one side. Was hoping for a nice view from bedroom.21 December 2011
