2.5 star ratingLocationHad to move room three times in a four night stay. On complaining that the rooms were noisy, was told I hadn't asked for a quiet room. Prostitutes in hotel bar. Public relations manager thought this was just amusing. Having stayed at similar top priced hotels in Cuba, conclude that paying more doesn't give added value. Stay cheap.28 March 2010
4.5 star ratingThe pool at this hotel is great. We loved our room and the cleanliness of the hotel was great. the staff at the poolside bar were great. Some grumpy staff throughout the hotel-- i.e. business centre, but overall wonderful. Our children loved the pool area. our room was great for all of us. Pool attendants and porters were great. Hotel is a great design. Breakfast buffet staff were friendly and welcoming. Helpful staff at door for taxis and directions. Rooms were clean and bathrooms great. breakfast buffet was bit of a disappointment. Some grumpy staff. Security at front door touted cigars and places to eat. Outside rooms facing the road in front of the capital-- loud-- above traffic circle. Check in staff were just blah. Internet was slow but didn't really matter. Prema21 May 2010
2.0 star ratingThe location is good and the roof top pool is a good feature. The food served at the hotel is well below acceptable standards, infact several meals served to us were inedible. The staff attitude and approach to guests is at 2 star hotel standards. Little effort is made to assist or engage with the guests. The cleanliness in the hotel is not of an acceptable standard, rooms are dirty, sheets are not always cleaned and the towels are riddles with holes. 04 August 2011
4.5 star ratingProbably the most efficiently run hotel in all of Cuba. It doesn't have a lot of personality inside and the staff is pretty stiff but it gets things right. The only place with wifi access that I could find. It was slow but useable. Maybe like dialup.Their efficiency goes a bit too far when the doorman runs a prostitution racket out of the main bar area. Every night there was a young lady or two waiting to make a deal and the doorman helping to assist. This happens in a lot of hotels in the third world but still depressing and puts the hotel in a specific light.11 July 2012
4.5 star ratingAfter staying at another hotel in old Havana Saratoga was definitely the better option. A very nice hotel, a cut above the rest! I would recommend it to anyone who told me they wanted a good hotel in Old Havana. The Anacaona Restaurant was not up to the standard of the hotel, both service and food were not great.NicoleH23 May 2013

4.0 star ratingview from junior suite facing road is great - can sit on the window chairs and watch havana pass by for hours. price on hotelopia was much less than price at hotel.i saw the rooms facing the inside of the hotel - not as nice. go for the street facing - although slightly noiser, i felt it was worth it for the view and the ambience.01 October 2013

2.0 star ratingIt's located in the old Havana. We didn't like it all. Some off the staff are nice. But unfortunatelly the hotel is too expensive and try to sell you so many eccursions etc. We stayed for 6 days and that was to much. Havana Holiday to Expensive 30 November 2013
4.5 star ratingAverage service at a state run Cuban hotel is nothing new, so I will try to let this pass rather than make it sound like it was a bad experience overall which is not true. The hotel was very clean, and we even got upgraded to a suite which was amazing...grandiose, with a living room, two TVs and bathrooms, a staircase and huge comfortable bed. We had a lovely balcony looking out onto the streets of Havana, and the tall windows and blinds looked beautiful when opened wide. Only downside was that when you go t sleep you have to close these due to security, meaning your room will be completely blacked out which makes it a little difficult to wake up! The breakfast was great with LOTS of options, probably about 40 different things you could have, and the upstairs pool and bar was such a good chill spot. We also had a pizza at the pool restaurant which was delicious. The views over the city are fab so it's got to be the hotel's best asset. The room prices are very high, so you would expect better service however it was ok (normal in cuba if they are on government salary). Only shocking thing was the big bottle of water inside the room which they want to charge 6CUC for (usually it should just be 1.5CUC!!!) so some may see this hotel as a bit of a rip off if they have been to let's say...Thailand's resorts! The staff did not look bothered to go beyond their call of duty and looked rather fed up with their job but this is nothing new for Cuba so try to ignore it and enjoy yourself! I would recommend this hotel if you want a treat like we had on our last night in the city, but I would say that you should stay in the lovely casas particulares everywhere else.AT01 June 2014
29 July 2014

2.0 star ratingAn over-priced tourist trap. The shower didn't work. The room wasn't properly cleaned when I was given it and for the enormous price tag, it should have been. Moldy toiletries in the bathroom. The food is truly awful and very little on the menu is actually available. Skip Havana and Cuba- there's some kind of organized tourist development going on with a lot of hype in exchange for access to Cuba by the insurance industry and control of their medical services, I suspect. There is nothing to see or do, but it costs the unsuspecting traveller a lot.Anonymous 07 August 2014
