3.5 star ratingClean, huge rooms, friendly staff. They provide exchange services but they ripped us off. If we had changed money at a bureau de change we would have got 65 cuc more!Complete rip off and they didn't even give us a reciept which could be because the receptionist pocketed the money.06 June 2009

3.0 star ratingThis hotel is in a great part of Old Havana, about 100 yards away Obispo (great street with markets, ATMs, Western Union, food and music) and 50 yards from Plaza Vieja (cool plaza with a micro brewery, museums and live music cafes). Everyone in town knows the hotel, it is easy to find. It even has ATMs in the street behind it (Cuba Street). The hotel is a magnificent building, full of period fittings and interesting art. For the building alone it is worthwhile staying in. I left the hotel early after coming down to breakfast one day and they had run out of food. Seriously. It was only 8am and there were plenty of people wanting to eat. Housekeeping did not clean my room once (but they did make the beds) and the reception staff were disinterested. Do yourself a favour and book Hotel Saratoga. It is only about $20 USD a night more expensive and they have WiFi, 24 hour room service, a pool and so much more. Saratoga is also the hotel Beyonce and Jay-Z stayed in when they went to Havana.Artega24 April 2013
Ben L.17 April 2013

4.5 star ratingThe staff were lovely as they are all over Cuba, the hotel is situated in the back streets in the Old Town of Havana, and on arrival looks like something out of Beirut!! However when you go through the front door it is AMAZING, so historic and beautifully decorated, taking you really back in time. We felt completely safe at all times throughout our stay in Havana and a great place to mix with the local people in the local bars and restaurants... Fantastic stay, Thank you Hotel Raquel Boutique Breakfast was a bit different but it was still ok ;o))Becca05 July 2013

1.5 star ratingOur room didn't have a window. We had 2 single beds. Both mattresses were old and springs stick in your back. Front desk staff were pleasant on arrival and that's as Far as the assistance went with what was close ( food Shops, salsa etc) . Food in Cuba is cheap, but basic. Same Went for the hotel food. Breakfast was 7-10. We had a flight to catch- We asked for some toast and an egg as we had to leave. We were told to wait a moment. We sat for 10 minutes Before he came back. A lady started putting the food and Fruit out, we asked again and said we have a flight to catch. He then Pointed to the other lady and said 'she's the cook, you ask her.' Don't bother staying here, it's not worth your money. Despite reading mixed Reviews about this hotel I went ahead with it- bad choice by me! 20 October 2013

4.5 star ratingThis is a beautiful building close to all the main sites to visit in Old Havana. Features a beautiful stained glass roof and has a lovely roof-top terrace. Although the hotel has a Jewish style to it there is no religious issues to adopt. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. A lift is available which is not the case in several other hotels where we stayed in Cuba.Although the rooms were cleaned satisfactorily there was slight evidence of neglect. Main meal that we had one night at the hotel was lacking in availability of basic ingredients on the menu...maybe we were just unlucky that night. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is still in need of redevelopment but within a couple of minutes walk the area is full of interest.Anonymous 01 April 2014
4.0 star ratingGreat location and a beautiful buidling. Staff were friendly and obliging. Peaceful rooftop terrace. Clean and spacious. Would recommend and would stay again. Some annoying street noise by night. Breakfast best avoided. Lots of renovation work going on in the general vicinity. Anonymous 03 July 2014
4.0 star ratingA very nice hotel located right in Old Havana, beautifully decorated room and public areas. Enjoyed my staying in hotel as well as in Havana! Perhaps, there are some drawbacks but no more than any other hotel has. Enjoy Havana!Katya27 November 2014
3.0 star ratingLocation, the beauty of the hotel and originality of the room were all that we expected. For the most part the staff were friendly, helpful and advised us well.Serious downfall was breakfast. We arrived at breakfast about 8am (we had a lie in) to find that all bar 2 tables were full or left dirty. We sat at an empty table and realised it was empty as it wasn't laid out for dining. So, with no sight of it being rectified I found the waiter and he then laid the table but only after clearing and laying a dirty one. I immediately swapped tables and went upto the buffet. Wish I hadn't. Only Mango and Guava juice on offer....so had a lovely glass of Mango. The food was a mish mash of hot and cold. Hot consisted of a hamburger patty that when eaten was grey tasteless mush, bacon was gone and only chorizo remained and what looked like a bright orange potato croquette, that was some beige tasteless mush. The cold buffet faired no better. No butter nor conserve just dry bread and croissants to toast. We eventually found a lovely café not too far away for a lovely coffee that revived us somewhat from the lack of breakfast. Hotel Raquel needs to up their game and aim for a breakfast that matches the exquisite décor. Very disappointed.Anonymous 12 February 2015
