3.5 star ratingThe service I received from the staff was satisfactory & the breakfast was of a high qualityI booked this hotel on the basis that it was advertised with a gym & pool - they have neither as they sold this a few months ago. I would suggest you update your webpages and any partner sites. Also the noise you hear due to the location is horrendous.....worst night's sleep in all hotels i have stayed in. My colleague also sais that the noise was unbearable.Anonymous 20 May 2016

3.5 star ratingvery god location for central manchesterroom in need of a lick of paint Bathroom cramped and bad layout and in need og significant refurbishment24 September 2008
2.5 star ratingThis hotel has obviously seen better days & is dire need of a refresh. Paint was peeling from the bedroom ceiling, the carpet was torn, tiles were damaged in the bathroom and the mirror frame was badly damaged. Strangely for a modern hotel it appears to still have smoking rooms which could be smelt even in the non-smoking areas, quite a surprise these days. Not one I'd go back to.24 November 2009
4.0 star ratingHelpfull and very friendly staff. Very clean hotel and nice food. Great position for shopping, restuarants etc. Some of the rooms and hallways appeared to be in need of redecorating. We stayed in a standard room which had a sash window that could not be fully closed so we appreciated the secondary glazing. Some of the bathroom fittings were dated and loose. We stayed in a standard room which was very clean but badly in need of re-decorating. Some of the bathroom fittings appeared very dated or hanging off. The outer sash window could not be fully closed so we were very pleased it had secondary glazing. Dave, Crewe14 December 2009

4.0 star ratingSuper location and reception areas nicely done. I was hosting an event at this Hotel and the food provided was superb with lavish praise from our guestsRomm we had was very small, however the price paid for the 1 night we needed accommodation was good, but wouldn't fancy staying more than night in that particualr room. Get what you pay for thoughMr Whisky02 April 2012

4.5 star ratingThis hotel is great value for money with very friendly staff. I would definitely stay at this hotel again but maybe next time try one of the suites for a bit more space in the room and because the hotel was a good price. One of the things I liked most about the hotel was where it was situated - there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants near by which was fantastic. The hotels cleanliness and facilities added to our weekend away. 02 April 2013
5.0 star ratingFirst room we were given was right beside what I think was the air conditioning unit and it made a constant humming noise. I rang to reception who, within 5 minutes, gave us another room. This room was spotlessly clean and the bed was the most comfortable one I have every slept in! Best nights sleep we have had in ages. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will most certainly be stopping here again! Staff extremely polite and very professional in their manner.27 March 2013

5.0 star ratingFriendly helpful staff, clean airy room, functional facilities and great locationNoise from neighbouring rooms and the corridor was noticeable at times, however this is only a small criticism of an enjoyable stay overall.Chappy29 April 2013

4.5 star ratingReally enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Fantastic location and very good value. Excellent breakfast and lots of choice. Very helpful staff. 12pm check out - bonus.Vicsta7403 March 2015
4.5 star ratingVery friendly and helpful staff! Lovely, modern room- bed was really comfy and the shower was nice! Iron and hairdryer in the room - always a bonus! Misleading 24/7 room service advertised online (this isn't the case), fire alarm went off at 7.30am in the morning when we wanted a decent sleep (it went on for a while). However, we appreciate this isn't the hotel's fault- it was just annoying!Anonymous 25 February 2017
2.5 star ratingIf you get this hotel cheap and are happy with the breakfast options then you might be happy as it was cleanIbis have ruined what was once a very good hotel. Having stayed here many times in the past I was gobsmacked to see what Ibis had done to the Portland! I booked before it changed to Ibis so was unaware that it had changed. The receptionist wears gym clothes, the reception has been ripped out and replaced with a table. The room looked like they had portioned of a normal sized room to make two. There was hardly room to squeeze past the beds to get to the far side of the room. There is no longer a full cooked breakfast available and now they offer a continental breakfast. That turned out to be stale bread to toast and some fruit. The tea and coffee is made by vending machines and it is disgusting. I ended up going else where to buy a proper breakfast which is not on as I had booked my room specifically to include a full breakfast. I certainly didn't get value for money!Burnio11 May 2017
