3.5 star ratingReal value for money - very central location.check in took a long time, were given wrong room number, entered room which was already occupied. took three trips up and down to reception to sort out.13 December 2008
3.5 star ratingRoom was a little tired looking. Bath needed a good clean, remote lacked batteries and the bed springs in the mattress could be felt. An unbearable banging sound started early in the morning and required an engineer to rectify the problem.01 May 2009
3.5 star ratingThe room was a good price. It was centrally located so great access to shops, bars and places to eat.Was a little dated.26 May 2009
3.0 star ratingCentral, near to New st station and city centre facilities. The hotel was rather tired, basic TV (4 channels!) and no remote, though one was found within 40'. Breakfast was a buffet with hot items held under heat lamps.... OK but a bit uninspired. Receptionist was unsure about which might be a quirt room. All friendly but decidely lacklustre! Ok for a one night business stay.Andy, Brighton20 June 2009
3.0 star ratingStaff distinctly unhelpful, room service was absolutely appalling- took over an hour to even get a reply from them. Room was very small and the windows were horribly draughty. The location is very convenient but I would not stay there again.Lone lady05 January 2010

3.5 star ratingReasonably priced, handy for the centre of Birmingham, quiet location in a pedestrianised zone yet still convenient for city centre parking (hotel will subsidise some parking costs). Breakfast was plentiful, hotel bar was small but excellent. Only one lift was working which meant long waits - this also seemed to be used by the hotel staff. No batteries in TV remote control, on 2 occasions I rang for room service and received no reply. Large tour groups meant everyone using lifts at the same time and the stairs were draughty and poorly signed. 04 January 2010
4.5 star ratingGood locationBooked twin beds got double bed god had to sleep with my sister reseption wasnt very helpfull03 August 2010
2.0 star ratingI shall be writing to brittania today to register my extreme dissapointment with the room and noise in this hotel. I had my 9 year old son with me and the smell was disgusting. 18 August 2010
1.0 star ratingI checked into the Britannia Birmingham n 26/1/11 and was told the double room that I booked in advance was no longer available (I come to Birmingham every week for a course and book rooms well in advance). Staff attributed this error to a fault in the computer system and asked me to accept a twin room instead, which I did. However I was woken at approx. 11.30pm by three men coming into my bedroom, as they had been assigned same room and given swipe keycard access. Naturally as I was in bed this extremely shocking! When we had all gathered in reception staff informed me there were no other rooms, but they could move me to The Paragon hotel, approximately 15 mintues. Despite the disruption and how tired I was I consented as I was feeling very vulnerbale and I no longer felt the Britannia was a secure place for a lone female to stay. Reception said I would not be charged for the room but this barely compensates for traumatic experience of being woken and having my space violated because of staff error and I will have to consider using any one of the other Birmingham city centre hotels for my weekly trip. 4.0 star ratingStaff were helpfulMy room was by a door which kept banging and vibrated into my room. Although I was offered an alternative room, I would have had to check out of my original room at 11 but not be able to get into alternative room until 2/14 April 2011
3.0 star ratingThe bed and linen was clean. I paid £37 for an overnight stay so value for money for a city centre hotel.Shabby, needs decorating and general aura of disrepair. Vomit stains on landing carpet. Someone had definately gone into the room whilst we were out (tho' nothing taken).baggiesfan15 August 2011
4.5 star ratingThe room i was given on the 9th, floor was so good it more than made up for the noise problems ,,, that i had the previous week on another floor excellent value, even the 1 bedroom at first, I tried to get in to the Britannia in Bolton but it was full still looking for a furnished flat, Preston, Wigan , or Bolton. No luck yet, staying in the Mecury Motel bolton £30 a night , please let me kinow of any special deals in future thank you.Lift carpet,s need replacing , T.V in the 1st room i stayed in was fuzzy, second stay on 9th floor , remote control needs replacing , the plug handle on the bath was loose. 2.0 star ratingNothing. More of a doss house than a hotel.Unbelievably noisy. Kept awake at night by acouple having a row on the other side of court yard. Woken up by a couple (possibly the same one) recreating *that* scene from When Harry Met Sally. Room filthy. Hairs in bath from previous occupants. Carpet stained. Room stank of smoke. One pair checking in were offered "a room with a large stain on the carpet". Given the small stains on mine, it must have been really, really obvious. Other customers clear unhappy. No towel rail. No toilet roll holder. WiFi only on ground floor. Probably meeting place for "escorts"and their clients. Did not feel totally safe in communal areas - front desk staff allowed anyone into the main parts of hotels. Lunch canceled (not of concern to me, but might be to others) Nowhere near 3*. Avoid. I would never stay here again. DJT09 April 2012

3.0 star ratingBooked in for a Friday / Saturday, pleasent staff, room clean and what I would expect for the price we paid. I must say the bar staff on the Friday night was very polite and well manered to the pont I tipped him twice, outstanding chap. On attending breakfast on the Saturday morning there was no notification that I had paid for B Gally21 May 2013
3.0 star ratingThe lift, location, the decor in reception, the staff were both friendly and professional, the breakfast buffet- (some vegetarian sausages would have been nice!). We were in room 509. There was a piece of chewing gum on the left hand side of the headboard between itself and the wall. There was hair in the bath plug hole that wasn't either of ours. Our sleep was disturbed by the constant warning alarm outside/noise outside. Shower curtain smelt damp. Honestly, for over £100 we spent, we were not impressed with the standard of the room and probably won't be re-booking or recommending in the near future. Sy14 May 2013

3.0 star ratingStaff were excellent, very helpful and friendly, room was clean, but badly in need of re-decoration - carpets and curtains appeared to be very dirty and in need of replacement. Anonymous 21 October 2014
1.5 star ratingGood locationVery unfriendly staffAiruni08 September 2015
2.0 star ratingRoom was just about okFood (breakfast) £7 for all you could eat very expensive for the poor quality, the fact the took more money for "security " the same ad I paid (£122) then another 122 that should have been paid back within 48hrs that was today (22/9/15). Noise as there was a large amount of banging in the very early, hours, some smell, old metal window that didn't shut, 2 single beds pushed together so uncomfortable in the middle...so You Say no extra charge yet there was see above.Anonymous 22 September 2015
