5.0 star ratingwe had a lovely stay there, we were very satisfied with the room and service. it is very important where you come back to after a day of tourist race through a foreign city, and if it is nice, the memories are so much sweeter. we all love edinbourgh and when we come back we will stay at royal ettrick hotel. 27 October 2008
4.0 star ratingOutlook from dining area pleasant and remarkably quiet from traffic. Comfortable, clean and convenient to bus route into town. Bedrooms warm - own control of radiators. Ensuite bathroom: clean and modern - excellent shower. Pleasant and helpful staff at all times - thankyou. Long steep stairs to the attic! Seems to need upgrade on stairway carpet - ?getting unsafe, - especially en route to the top floor. Pity about conference/dining room on first floor - noisy bunch in one night!09 December 2008
3.5 star ratingVery clean, pleasant locationrooms were rather small, we were disturbed in the morning by the bin lorry and a racket outside our window and the communal areas looked like they needed a bit of care.JT01 September 2009

3.5 star ratingThe hotel is very nice and the breackfast ir very goodI travelled with my wife and we arrived 4 hours before the check-in time, so we were given a room earlier tan expected, but the room wasn't anything close to what we have booked. The following day we had to ask to be changed and the personal was very helpful in doing it. We paid the 3 nights we stayed in advanced and we found out that the price for the room in which we stayed the first night was half of the price we paid. That was very disapointing.Andrés07 January 2011
5.0 star ratingLovely big room and very comfortable bed. Excellent value for money. The only thing that stopped the room being perfect were a few missing curtain hooks which meant the curtains looked a bit of a mess. 24 April 2012

3.0 star ratingMain food quality is excellent, like lunch or dinner......for breakfast just forget about it! The rooms are fresh renovated and are clean.Very cold. The hotel switch off the heater in the night and during the daytime. These gives a very cold and unhealthy environment. The beds are not good for couple, as even you push them together, after a while you just sleep in the middle between mattresses. The warm water in the bathroom is also ridiculous, as the faucet is so adjusted that not much warm water comes out. Visiter06 April 2013
4.5 star ratingFriendly staff, excellent choice of food, pleasant dining area, reasonable parking area.Food should always be presented on hot plates, this was not always adhered to.RWC15 April 2013
4.5 star ratingThe hotel is within minutes of a bus stop where you can catch two buses to Edinburgh City Centre. Buses are very frequent but make sure you have correct money for the bus, as they do not give change. The Hotel is in a peaceful area and there is car parking at the hotel which is a plus. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the food good. Hotel directions which are on their website are very good.We had one of the smallest rooms in the attic and the stairs to the attic were very narrow. No lift. We also found out a single person was in a much bigger room next door which rankled a bit. The Menu is a bit limited and only on our last day was the soup changed on the Specials board. Otherwise it had been the same for three days. 03 January 2014
