4.5 star ratingFriendly compentent staff, cleanliness of bedding/towels good variety of food for breakfast choice. Overall good value for money. No safety rubber mat for shower/bath on request, could do with a lick of paint to cover marks on walls and brighten the general aspect of the hotel.19 August 2008
3.5 star ratingZa hotelem zdecydowanie przemawia znakomita lokalizacja w Centrum.
4.0 star rating Easy access and simple to find. Good sized room. Good and plentiful breakfast. Finishes were a bit shabby, but not unclean. Need to pay more attention to fabric repairs to stop things deteriorating. 12 September 2008
5.0 star ratingI really did enjoy my stay at the hotel. It was very good value for my money. The meals were tasty, the staff polite and helpful, my room was cleaned regularly. I hope I will be able to come back to Glasgow soon and stay in Your hotel again, and I have already recommended it to several of my friends. The ONLY disadvantage was the fact that our room was facing rather busy Argyle Street and the night noises were rather disturbing. I would recommend new windows and double glazing!01 October 2008
4.5 star ratingnice and claenroom very small big bright light out side window very noisy on street at night 02 October 2008

5.0 star ratingEasy access from Airport. Hotel full of character, the staff were very welcoming & our room (314) was surprisingly large & airy. Have stayed in Glasgow a number of times before & paid much more for far less. Hotel couldn't be faulted, real value for money. N/a08 November 2008

5.0 star ratingThe hotel itself was bright and airy. The staff were always very helpful. The late check-out facilty is a must if you have an evening flight and you can then avail of the hotel lounge on the 1st floor and relax in comfort.28 March 2009
5.0 star ratingExcellent service and staff couldn't do enough to help you. Enjoyed buffet style breakfast. Thorough enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would definitely stay again. 10 out of 10!!24 March 2009
5.0 star ratingAlthough the hotel is opposite boarded up buildings it isn't far from the centre of Glasgow and right next to the Central station which was ideal for me travelling to the conference centre and then, later, into the centre of town. The hotel was clean and warm, the breakfast was excellent, the staff were very polite and extremely helpful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I thought there were some interesting (if not eclectic) prints and pictures on the walls near the breakfast area. Very good selection of tourist information leaflets. Don't be put off by the surrounding area - the hotel is worth staying at.Only one thing I found to complain about - the net curtain over my window was dirty! I did like the fact you could close the doors on the windows tho. 29 March 2009

5.0 star ratingI had a different room this time and was impressed immediately on opening my room door. This hotel is always spotless and has the rooms cleaned daily. While there my furniture was updated with brand new desk and bedside locker and depending on the floor new wardrobes could be seen in their packaging. This is a well run homely hotel. I will be back quite soon.Alexander Thomson08 May 2009
4.0 star rating Very convienient for Glasgow Central and surrounded by "eateries" and shops etc. Room was clean and warm with daily maid service including fresh towels every day. Clean bathroom / toilet facilities.Hotel is old and getting a bit "rough round the edges". Although you can tell it was a nice hotel in its day (1920's Art Deco) it could do with redecoration and general spruce up. They need to improve the TV for buisness users who will tend to stay in on the eveneing and watch TV ... add Sky etcNorthEast traveller10 May 2009
4.5 star ratinglocated on one of glasgows main shopping streets friendly, helpful staff, cooked breakfast was cold could do with topping up the ban-marie's with hot water 30 May 2009
3.5 star ratingLocality The hotel is very near to all the brand name shops, train station and lots of bars and restaurantsthe building work going on, but it was not too bad and it finished early. The breakfast - while the food was quite good and plentiful, the bain-marie it was kept in was never switched on and the plates were cold, so the food was never hot. these are all things which could and should be rectified. Also some net curtains on the windows would be nice and the windows would need a wash.Travelling pensioner15 June 2009

2.5 star ratingFor a one night stay the hotel was okay, I would not have wanted to stay more than one nighthaving to stand in a que for my breakfast was not the most pleasant thing to do 29 June 2010
4.5 star ratingThe hotel was in an ideal position close to the centre. The room was clean, not sure if it was the executive suite that I had booked, but it was well laid out. Very good breakfast and staff very very friendly. Will have no problem going again. Good value for the money.29 June 2010

3.5 star ratingDouble room booked and was excellent value as there was a lounge and bedroom. Lounge contained a three piece suite. Television in the lounge and in the bedroom.Only one lift and very slow moving. No fire procedure information in the room! No information about the hotel facilities in the room. Only one set of complimetary shower gel, shampoo, soap for a double room. 09 September 2010
5.0 star ratingexcellant stay would stay again 05 October 2010
3.5 star ratingbeds very clean and comfortable . tea making facilities in room better and more generous than some of the very expensive hotels. temprature in room very comfortable. breakfast very nice . Mirror in the room fantastic because it makes you 3 sizes smaller !!!This was classed as a superior room but bathroom badly needing upgraded. Although it was huge it was not inviting because of bland decor and broken tiles .Trish12 October 2010
3.5 star ratingGood food, friendly staff, free WiFi, cheap hotel.Old building, carpet need changing, too much outside noise.12 October 2010
4.0 star ratingposition of the hotel (city centre with shopping malls and important stations) good break fast, room very cleanno shower (just cold water), so i had to have a bath. I was on the 1st floor on the street and it was very noisy.Laurent19 November 2010
3.0 star ratingThe bed was comfortable and I found the TV usedful, though I was sorry that Sky Sports programmes were not available. The hotel is very convenient for Glasgow Central Station. The standard lamp in the bedroom had no lampshade. Breakfast was awful: fried eggs with hard yolks, uncooked tomato which was nearly cold; beans only lukewarm. Very disappointing.18 January 2011
5.0 star ratinga high standard of cleanliness everywhere and breakfast buffet had lots of choice, loved the free water bottles in the room too, some road noise from nearby building work15 February 2011
4.5 star ratingAn excellent hotel located very conveniently for Central station and the city centre shops.Room smelled of stale tobacco but it wasn't engrained into it fortunately.Moscord17 February 2011
5.0 star ratingGot an double executive suite with breakfast for £54, so can't complain about value. Room was huge, with lounge with leather settee, two leather chairs, coffee table and flat screen TV. Bedroom was also massive, with comfy (hard matress) double bed and another flat screen TV. Coffee/tea making with nice biscuits. Bathroom was large, with over bath shower and nice tolietries.Look like it was being renovated, but a bit strangely. My bedroom had mainly walnut coloured furniture, including two sets of bedside drawers, but also had a light coloured set of bedside drawers randomly placed. Bathroom was nice, but still had a push soap dispenser above the sink, which was empty due to the separate bottled toiletries. Some of the communal areas were a bit tatty (needed painting) and I suspect there could be some variation in the quality of the rooms. That said, I'd stay there again.19 February 2011
4.0 star ratingThe hotel was in the perfect location for us - near the shops and not too far from the bars and clubs. Staff were friendly and breakfast was ideal. PaulV29 March 2011
3.0 star ratingValue for money no frills hotel - Central location with decent breakfast so £53 is a bit of a bargain compared to other hotels in the area.Residents bar was shut when we returned back at 01:00 for a nightcap.Big Baz19 April 2011
4.0 star ratingbrilliant stay , so near the railway station plenty of places to eat. will def stay again29 June 2011
4.0 star ratingNice, friendly cheap hotel with nice breakfast. Also the option to gat half price 24hr parking.Tiny lift, every member of staff seemed to be foreign.28 July 2011
2.5 star ratingIt's cheap, in a great spot for the station, the free wi-fi is pretty quick for a hotel, flat screen TVs with Freeview are better than many and the buffet breakfast is good (bacon, sausage, eggs, cereal etc). The rooms are extremely tired and some are tiny. First time I stayed, I got a suite, which was fantastic. Stayed there several times since and the rooms have been getting worse. Stayed in a 'deluxe' room this time, which was identical to the normal room I'd stayed in the week before. Desk at the end of the bed was so close, you had to manoeuvre the chair in and then climb into it. To get back out meant a lot of wriggling. Floorboards are so old you feel yourself sinking into them. Most of the fittings look very old and tired, even if they've done their best to keep them clean. Seems to be a lot of tourists there, so might be somewhere you get put on a package deal, but there are much better places if you're willing to walk 5 minutes from the station. Generally, the hotels in 'Theatreland' are much nicer and are a similar price.16 September 2011
5.0 star ratingVery good value for money. Staff are friendly and helpful ( I asked for an ironing board at reception and by the time I got back to the room it had arrived!). The biggest plus of the hotel was our room, So recently refurbished it smelt like Ikea! Spacious and very clean. The amount of channels on the TV was also a bonus. The location is great, short walking distance from the shops and right next to the Central train station. (There is also a Wetherspoon a couple of doors down) Tip: Don't judge it by its cover, as the front of the hotel could do with a facelift.01 October 2011

4.5 star ratingFabulous rooms,20 November 2013
3.5 star ratingRoom was clean and tidy. The hotel itself is very central and great for attending gigs at The Hydro. Would I stay again? Yes I would. Staff were ok on arrival but on leaving the man looked unshaven and didn't ask if we had enjoyed our stay or anything. It is often the little things that make places lose marks. I read lots of reviews before I booked so went with my eyes open. whilst the room was clean, the 'net' curtains I felt were a bit grubby and actually had a burn hole in one. They also needed to be hemmed so generally looked a bit scruffy. We had 3 single beds which as fabulous but each bed only had one pillow and there was only one spare. To be fair when I requested more this wasn't a problem. The windows were open which was nice as the hotel is very warm but as its on Argyle Street I was concerned about traffic noise. I tried to close them but was unable to and in fact the bathroom window ended up open further. I asked at reception if someone could close them whilst we were out and one was closed but bathroom one wasn't (this was probably just a misunderstanding). We closed the bathroom door and slept very well!! As has been noted previously the wifi is very much a hit or a miss. We couldn't log on at all in the room and couldn't connect in the lounge. Loads of choice at breakfast but avoid the saute potatoes and fried bread - unbelieveably salty!Anonymous 19 May 2014
5.0 star ratingWas very pleased that we could leave our luggage before check in and after check out, receptionist was pleasant, room was a good size and lovely and warm (it was snowing outside). We appreciated the full size bath with shower above, rather than just a shower. Add to this a very good breakfast, reasonable bar prices, and a very good price, and you can see why we would hope to stay again next time we visit Glasgow.Anonymous 01 February 2015

Upon our return check in was quick and efficient, our room was spotless and well equipped, bed was extremely comfy and the bottles of water in the room were a nice touch. We didn't get to stay and try and the breakfast as were rushing to catch a train but would definitely recommend and will definitely return.JoGaz21 March 2017
4.5 star ratingHad a few reservations about the hotel, as it was exceptionally cheaper than most in Glasgow, but was I in for a surprise, the hotel is a large Victorian building with high sealings, with more character than purpose build modern contemporaries. My room was large with a kingsize bed and a 2 seater settee, the bed linen was fresh and clean and the room and corridors were well carpetted (looked new). The only issue and a minor one was the non doubled glazed windows that seemed to rattle during the night, however there is also thick lined curtains that I could have closed, but didn't bother. The breakfast was amasing, in fact I have never seen so much food being put out over a short period of time. Everything was fresh and well laid out and for the price £48.60 (for 2), you couldn't get a better location.only the rattling window, but on a better night (it ws very stormy when i was there) this probably would'nt be an issue. 2.5 star ratingBig rooms central location and cleanBreakfast terrible for a Scottish hotel. No traditional Scottish food like Lorne sausage, black pudding or haggis. The eggs were hard poached cut in half every morning. The food on the hot plate never stayed hot and the bacon was cut in little pieces. The breakfast is an important part off a hotel stay and I was let down big time with a very poor breakfast. Rob Christie19 May 2017
3.5 star ratingWas worried about the breakfast as I've read some bad reviews but it was actually quite nice. For the price (£40 each including breakfast) & the amount of time we spent in the room it wasn't unbearable but ALOT of work needs done! Room was spacious & beds were comfy just a little bit squeaky when I moved.Staff should take your bags to the luggage room instead of making people take them on their own, didn't feel my bag was safe as anyone who was staying was walking in. Bedroom was ok, quite a lot of marks on wall & loads of paint peeling. Didn't look like the floor had been hoovered in some places. Bathroom was nice & big.. until we noticed some sort of foam stuff all around the toilet & the sink pipe didn't look nice at all! A lot of work is needing to be done & when it is done .. if they do get it all decorated it would be a nice hotel! Anonymous 16 July 2017
4.0 star ratingRoom was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. Overall the hotel was good value for money. We have stayed here before and are booked again in July, when we return to Glasgow.Old windows were a little bit draughty and not too soundproof.Ladmardl23 May 2017
