5.0 star ratingExcellent Hotel, right in the hub of Liverpool. Quiet location up a slight hill beside Lime St Station. After a slight delay at check in (probably due to the fact we only booked late the evening before), we were handed keys to a clean & tidy room on the 3rd floor, with a shower, bath (with complimentary toiletries), tea & coffee making facility, & a (chargeable) mini-bar. Spent an hour in the hotel's Castaway bar where the barman was pleasant, and the drinks not over-priced. Help-yourself breakfast was tasty, hot, & plentiful, & served in a clean & fresh dining room with friendly staff, who quickly cleared & cleaned tables as they were vacated. This was all topped off with a FREE car park manned again by friendly & efficient staff. Beds could be a little firmer; & room's décor (whilst spotlessly clean) is a little tired.gns16502 January 2016
4.5 star ratingConveniently located, helpful staff and very comfortable beds. Next to Lime Street so quite noisy in a morning, room had a slightly unpleasant smell and the plug hole was stuck down in the sink so basin filled up. Slimbob30 December 2015

5.0 star ratingStayed at the Liner, following a previous evening at the Adelphi. There's no comparison, the Liner is in a different league; this is how hotels should be run. It's in a great location, in the Cultural area of Liverpool. It's contemporary, well decorated, with great ambiance. The room was immaculately clean, with very comfortable beds, hairdryer, tv, tea & coffee. The staff were professional, friendly and motivated - came across as wanting to work there. There was a fantastic choice of breakfast, which was well-cooked and kept in hygienically-covered trays. Delicious. Bonus is the free car park - with very friendly and helpful attendants. Will definitely return.None.Anonymous 16 May 2016

3.5 star ratinggood central locationNo aircon, and opening the window allowed noise from the nearby railway station to be intrusive. Consequently, didn't sleep well. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a good selection, but the food from the cooked selection wasn't very hot.Anonymous 21 May 2016

4.0 star ratingClean, well run hotel close to the city with pleasant staff.I totally object to having £50 a night being 'frozen' from my account for each night of stay in this hotel. If I had been staying 7 nights that is £350 that would have been 'frozen' in my account for upto 4 days after it being released on my checking out. Very, very poor and I refused to allow them to do this.16 December 2008

3.5 star ratingGreat Hotel overall, The Italian lady on reception was delightful. Breakfast room run very well by the cheeky chappy in the kichen. Good with the guests and discreetly firm with his staff . The bathroooms were clean.Lots of debris/ dust behind the bed which was a shame.26 July 2011
2.0 star ratingAsk to use the fridge and the staff said no it's not for personal use. Room was a bit on the small side and no air-con, not value for money and the pictures on their website are better than the actual hotel, the only thing this hotel as going for it is the location, i will not be stopping here again, ever, even if offered a freebie and to top it all off the mattress was not comfortable and the so called double bed was tinyJim16 August 2011

4.5 star ratingVery clean and tidy. The only issue was that my room seemed to have been smoked in, then cleaned, then sprayed with something to neutralise the tobacco smell - which didn't work unfortunately.Someone stole my lovely wool winter jacket from the back of my chair in the Brasserie restaurant. It was not returned to the front desk or the restaurant staff. People should beware.Dottie11 November 2011

4.5 star ratingwe were able to check in early, staff very friendly, pleasant room, great decor loved the nautical theme.Lifts are too small, the mini bar overpriced, access to the hotel bar meant having to go outside rather than inside.07 July 2012

4.0 star ratingGood location, great buffet breakfast with a proper full English, free onsite parking saves a fair bit of cash. the staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was well equipped and spotless. The room was very hot, there was no air-con and the window only partially opened. We were there in October and the heat in the room was a significant problem then.28 October 2012
4.0 star ratingThe staff were pleasant and the free parking was very good. The hotel is in a really good area for shopping, theatre etc.The bathroom fan was on all night and kept me awake. I only had about 2 hours sleep, had a lot of sightseeing etc to do on Sunday and was very very tired-spoiled it a bit. I reported it to reception in the morning but it was obviously too late to do anything about it, She said she would let maintenance know about the problem30 October 2012

5.0 star ratingGreat location. 2 minutes from town centre. Kept clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Food was good. Room was a good size. Bed was comfy. Parking facilities. Restaurant and bar were very well presented. Couldn't fault the place myself. Would definitely go back. Price of room for one night was good. Prices do vary from week to weekend and depending on what time of year you go. id08 April 2013
5.0 star rating Free parking and clean, good quality accommodation. Well situated in the centre of the city. Tables in the breakfast room too close together , causing lack of privacy and crowdiness as a result. One table was kept reserved and unavailable, but was not used by anyone.Maya30 May 2013
4.5 star ratingThe staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a really nice meal in the restaurant and wish we had eaten there the second night instead of trying the town . Would recommend this hotel to anyone it near the town and all the landmarks. Really good and will go back. Our room was a bit to near the lift but not a major issue.25 May 2013
5.0 star ratingvery polite staff who really seemed to want to help. Customer service is lacking in alot of consumer areas these days so was very impressed.positioning of the TV ut not a hardship to move it.caz21 June 2013
3.0 star ratingOn check-in the staff were very friendly and efficient. The staff in the Castaway Bar were lovely, very helpful and welcoming. On the night of our stay (Friday 21 June) there was a fire in the early hours. My daughter and I had a very scary moment when we were coming down the stairs towards the fire exit and could clearly smell smoke. I was surprised that there didn't seem to be anyone in charge when we were waiting outside the hotel. There were too many people under the front canopy for us to shelter from the rain there, so we took shelter in a doorway, but I couldn't see anybody taking a roll call and, if there was, they certainly didn't bother to come to us. I only knew the cause of the fire because somebody near me asked a fire officer and when we were allowed back in no explanation was forthcoming from a member of staff. In the morning, when we checked out, no mention was made of the fire! Every friend and colleague I've mentioned it to since has been surprised that I didn't ask for a refund but I think at the least I could have expected an apology for a very disturbed night. My daughter was rather shaken by the experience and it left us very tired for our busy day on Saturday. It's such a shame because I liked the hotel and the staff, but they didn't seem prepared for an emergency. SarahK25 June 2013
4.5 star ratingGood locationNo air con stayed hottest days we have had in a long time fan in room but if you wanted it on during the night you had to get up every two hours to reset the timer. No top sheet on the bed and was too warm to have duvet on, but asked for one and got one no problem! Tv was to side of bed so if lying on the inside of bed wasn't too easy to see it past my hubby, generally they are at bottom of bed, other than that good enough!Stan22 July 2013
5.0 star ratingExcellent location, good breakfast and nothing too much trouble for staff.Dining room for breakfast far too small - had to wait each of the three mornings of our stay. 20 July 2013

3.0 star ratingThe staff was nice breakfast was lovely and location ideal if u travelling by trainThe first room we was allocated smelled of stale urine which was very of putting so that put a damper has a first impression , it was a bit expensive although we had got over the first impressions it was not worth it ive stayed in cheaper and better hotel , if it was cheaper they would be no problemMiss T10 August 2013

4.5 star ratingBooked this hotel 10 days before travelling, and was surprised at the low price, didn't know what to expect. Very pleasantly surprised, lovely hotel, recently refurbished and good quality furniture and fittings in room, better than the hilton at York, which was 5 x the price!! Efficient check in,courteous staff. A comfortable nights sleep, and the breakfast was delicious.Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again. The only negative comment about this hotel is it's close proximity to the train station and the station announcements are very loud and can be heard from the bedrooms ( at the back) and seemed to start at 6am?! Madleo23 October 2013
4.5 star ratingGreat value for money and the location is excellent for walking into town. They make you give your card details on arrival even though you have paid for the room. I asked why and wasn't given a satisfactory answer. It turns out there is a mini bar in the room. No mention of the requirement of card details on booking so I was annoyed with this. Bwab23 November 2013
4.0 star ratingGreat location, good value for money, comfortable bed. What more do you need? The rooms on Lime Street station side are very noisy, but we asked to move to the other side and the station could not be heard at all.Anonymous 12 March 2014

5.0 star ratingGreat facilities close to city centre with free parking and wi Fi Let down by the neighbouring room who couldn't close the door quietly late in the night and had the noisiest kids from hell room very warm without heating on so have to have window open although a necessity had to endure noise from the nearby lime street station as we were that side and someone regularly filling up a bin with bottles . Otherwise everything greatAnonymous 13 April 2014
5.0 star ratingfaultless! Just the lack of pool of gym facilities may deter some but not us! More than made up for by all other aspects! Central location and excellent free parking facilities! Would definitely stay here when returning to Liverpool!Ian Knowles19 March 2014
4.5 star ratingI booked this hotel as an anniversary gift for my parents ,they stayed with 2 other family members .I informed the hotel that it was my parents anniversary and they kindly upgraded both parties .My parents also received complimentary cupcakes in the room .My parents were very impressed by the size of there room and said the bed was massive .The location was ideal and free parking was a big bonus .The staff were friendly and professional .They are already talking about staying again. The breakfast was just warm ,although as they were leaving it was being replenishedAnonymous 09 April 2014
5.0 star ratingWe loved the thematic approach and the way in which the hotel was decorated! Staff were very helpful and friendly.Location- excellent especially for the Empire and the station! we will definitely return! Lifts seemed to have a life of their own! We seemed to end up walking down the last few steps as one trip to the ground floor ended with the doors refusing to open so we ended up going back up again for some bazaar reason. We found it funny because we were not in any hurry but some guests may be. Also, I feel as real ale appreciaters, we would have used the bar for sure, if you had had one after all, you do have a pump. I realise that this needs to be consumed within a short period but smaller casks can be obtained. The bar was quaint and attractive and we missed out of spending time there because of it to the benefit of Ma Egerton!Mark14 October 2014

5.0 star ratingI stayed here with my sister for two separate nights on our way to and from holiday. If arriving by train especially, the hotel is ideally situated. In view of the price, which included breakfast, we weren't expecting it to be quite so good. However, the hotel is very well kept and the staff we encountered were all pleasant and efficient. Due to an early start on our way, we ordered continental breakfast in our room, which was very good. Having more time on the way back, we went down for breakfast and there was a lovely hot and cold selection available. We did not use any of the facilities as such, so have just assumed a 'good' score, as everything else was so good. It would be a great base for anyone wishing to enjoy/explore our beautiful city! Many thanks!None.Former Liver Birds17 June 2015

5.0 star ratingLovely clean room, white clean bed linen. Extra nice to have biscuits with the tea making facility. Bathroom toiletries provided was an excellent touch to the service. The sweeping stairway to the reception area gave me the impression i was in a very expensive hotel, yet the price i paid gave me excellent value for the standard provided. Excellent touch to have proper white towels in the ladies toilets as well as the normal drying facilities. The bed was not very comfy as i could feel the springs through the mattress. However, i am used to a memory foam bed so perhaps this is normal for a normal type of bed!runnergirl31 May 2016

5.0 star ratingJust returned from a family break for graduation event and had a fantastic stay at your hotel! Was a slightly complicated booking and staff were fantastic both prior to and throughout our stay and sorted any requests with no hassle.. Rooms and facilities were great, and breakfast choices and restaurant was brilliant. We also tried the main restaurant for both a lunchtime light bite and the pre-theater evening meal - the food and service were top notch and really good value for money. On site parking in the centre of Liverpool was an absolute bonus and made our stay even more pleasurable. Have now tried three different hotels in Liverpool recently and this is definitely the one we will be returning to for future trips. Many thanks for a wonderful stay! Anonymous 07 November 2016
5.0 star ratingNice room, had everything we needed, very clean, decent breakfast, very pleasant staff and excellent value for money.Couldn't get a free space in the hotel car park, due to a conference, so had to pay for overnight parking. Bar staff in Castaway very friendly.Room dated was like something from the 70's. Bed not what I would expect in a hotel nowadays. Staff at reception (saw 3 different people) all robotic and totally disinterested in job. They rhymed off the info about the hotel like a recorder.
