This centrally located hotel is situated at the heart of Leeds and is close to both of the well-known universities.The 6-storey building comprises a total of 109 guest rooms, of which 76 are singles and 32 are doubles. The building includes a foyer with a reception that is open on a 24-hour basis, a safe, cloakroom, currency exchange desk and lift access. Guests are also offered a bar, TV room and an air-conditioned à la carte restaurant. A conference room and public Internet terminal feature at the hotel, which is thus ideal for business guests. Those arriving by car may make use of the hotel car park. Continue to follow signs for Leeds city centre then connect to the 'Loop Road' (see below). City centre loop: leave at J7, the Merrion centre. Turn left after the Merrion shopping centre and the hotel is on the left.

4.5 star ratingCheck-in procedure very smooth - they were expecting me - just handed over the voucher and signed the form. So simple! The room was very clean and presentable - everything in good order. Lots of hot water and a very comfortable bed as well! Breakfast was buffet style - good choice of food and the waiting-on staff were polite and friendly.I cannot really fault the hotel at all - it was great value for money!Best Western Merrion Hotel Leeds UK10 March 2009

3.0 star ratingThe breakfast was tasty and hot with a good vsriety. The breakfast staff were corteous and helpful. The room and bathroom were very clean - nice to walk into!Perhaps it would be a good idea if the hotel established some quiet zones which hotel staff would then be able to police! Even if you were in a room not fronting the street it is highly likely that a guest will be disturbed by inconsiderate drunks who think they can shout their mouths off in corridors at 1, 2. 3 am!! I would use the hotel again IF you had some quiet areas/ corridors but unless they became a fixture I would not book with you again. TV reception for Channel 1 was dire! 3.5 star ratingReception staff very polite and professional. Rooms were clean Window wouldn't close properly. Heater in bathroom didn't work. No shower curtain in one room No shower gel in one room Room was very cold on arrival as radiator was turned to frost prevention setting. When requesting an iron plus ironing board, was told to 'look along 6th floor and there should be one there'. There wasn't one but besides this I don't expect to have to go searching for such items in a hotel. Unoccupied rooms were found open on that floor. Not an issue to me personally but I would have thought this was not hotel policy?23 February 2010
