2.5 star ratingFriendliness of staffThe shuttle to and from the airport was inadequate. Every half hour is not enough. £3 is too much. Our bus left the hotel 8 minutes late. The bus went a roundabout route - coming from the airport it actually passed the hotel on its to another hotel without letting us get off.02 October 2008

4.0 star rating We booked by phone to stay in moat Hotel ,Gatwick for one night on our to Egypt, as times of flights were not suitable. We also tried to book a room for the return flight a week later, but were told to book that on our arrival for the first stay. when we did this they said they only had a 3 bed room at ten pounds dearer which is a rip off. So we will not stay there again.27 October 2008

3.0 star ratingFood and eating area was very nice. Staff were very proffessional. Hotel was clean and tidy.Room was very basic. We only stayed for one night - pre flight from Gatwick. The door on our room took great effort to shut properly so we had to be careful when we left the room as it looked locked but could have just been pushed open. 22 April 2009

Staff were very helpful and informative with enquiries.would be helpful to note on the actual website where and what bus to catch to get to the hotel. 3.0 star ratingI paid a premium to stay in this hotel and the shower/tub took 15 minutes to drain. Therefore when I was showering, the water was up around my ankles. I don't know what sort of water mixed with my shower water coming up from the drain. It was awful! Charging for the internet is not acceptable when the rates are so high. I had trouble logging on. It was a nightmare! Both of these issues had to be addressed by room visits from the staff just when my husband was trying to take a shower. It was most unpleasant!10 October 2012

4.5 star ratingAfter reading reviews I really didn't expect to much from the hotel but I was very surprised indeed. The bar and lobby/reception area have been completely renovated and look a lot better then some Hilton hotels ive stayed in! The rooms are showing signs of wear and tear but are clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant 2 courses (each) and 2 glasses of wine for £30. The food was amazing and service very quick. Overall an excellent stay and all for £40 bargin! Anonymous 19 May 2015

2.0 star ratingI turned up at the hotel around 9:30pm after a long day of travel to be told that my reservation had been cancelled. The reception staff called the central reservations who told them I'd been moved to their sister hotel, The Russ Hill, about 10 minutes drive further away from the airport. I'd had no notification and got no apology from the reception staff. The Russ Hill is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in and specifically didn't book it as it's so bad. I didn't get any apology (it was pitched as a good move for me???), any offer of discount, any refund. Nothing. While I was in reception it also happened to two other people checking in so not an isolated case. Don't book with Hotelopia and don't book this hotel, I certainly will never do either again.Paul D09 September 2016
