2.5 star ratingIn a very good locationThe room was dirty and the bathroom was particularly bad due to floor boards showing and filthy lino. 03 October 2009
3.5 star ratingThe staff where very helpful, particularly the reception staff. The hotel is dog friendly which is a massive bonus for us, although it did cost an extra £25 for the dog.The extra money for the dog pushed the cost of the room to £160 for the night. Our room was incredibly small and very very hot. The bed only had a very thin quilt on it with a white quilt cover and no throw cushions on bedspread, it looked as if we had been put into a broom cupboard as an afterthought, at £160 per night I would consider this to have been a bit of a rip off. We regularly go away for weekends and stay in dog friendly hotels and our rooms have been in the region of £100 per night including the dog and breakfast and we have had spectacular rooms for that money. £160 was very much over the top. The saving grace was that the room was clean and we where only there for one night!R Mingo27 July 2010
3.0 star ratingGood location, near shops, bars and restaurants and a 10-15 minute walk from The LanesThe lift was not working during our stay and we were located on the 5th floor!! The breakfast was nice but only allowed one choice off the menu and other choices were at an additional cost14 October 2011
4.5 star ratingJust what we expected. Nice, clean, good location! Pleasant visit.28 October 2011
5.0 star ratingThis is a lovely smallish hotel right on the seafront with beautiful views over the sea and pier. The staff were friendly and courteous. The hotel bar was reasonably priced and a decent size to cater for large groups but still feel cosy when there are just 2 people in it. The rooms and ensuite bathroom facilities were more than adequate and in good condition. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast choice was excellent and we left feeling that we had really received value for money! No real negative reviews - the hotel is an old hotel so has creaky floorboards under the carpets which I think adds to its appeal.28 February 2012

2.5 star ratingThe room was cleanI feel we paid good money for an average room/hotel, which was meant to be a delux double. The towel rack was broken and the room was small. We have stayed in few other hotels in Brighton and paid less. Your room was the smallest of them all and the breakfast was very dissapointing. All the other hotels allow their guests to help themselves to as much food as they want, but you served up a minimum portion. Sadly we feel we were ripped off for our money.Kenco08 May 2012
4.5 star ratingGreat position, good value, food and service brilliant.01 November 2012
4.5 star ratingSmall room but pleasant, adequate for our one night and clean. Very happy with our stay. One of the last to come down to breakfast but well within time, the waitress forgot to put our order in. They just managed to catch the chef before he left the building so we did eventually get our order. Fortunately we were not in a hurry.04 February 2013
3.0 star ratingDoes what it says on the tin - good advice on parking options, good location on seafrontTired overall, lift is rickety and slow, room fittings in the bathroom need updating, slow service at the bar. Charging for credit card use is not a good idea when room charges are £100 ish and a flat rate of £2.50 per card transaction is NOT what the hotel should be being charged by credit card company so is not appropriate for a £10 drinks bill!05 February 2013
4.0 star ratingNice and friendly hotel. We had a good stay in one of the rooms with a seaview. 06 March 2013
3.5 star ratingBed was comfy. I saw a friend's room which looked niceRoom could do with a deep clean. Few cracks in wall. Bathroom needs work, didn't feel clean or hygenicDawn31 March 2013

3.0 star ratingSchön nah am Strand und zum Zentrum gelegen.Die Zimmer waren wirklich sehr klein und auf Nachfrage ob wir etwas schönes bekommen wurde dieses nur gegen Aufpreis angeboten. 23 September 2013
4.5 star ratingSearched for a last minute room for a short notice night out with friends. My Single room here was nearly half the price of any other option in Brighton last Saturday. The decor was ever so slightly tired but absolutely fine for the price and the place had much more charm than one of the chain hotels. My room was small but perfectly adequate; TV, shower, wifi, phone all worked fine. Breakfast was really very good and only a few pounds when booked in advance. At this price my friends thought I would wake up with a missing kidney, but when they picked me up in the morning they were all quite surprised at the good standard. These are not major criticisms, but for completeness and in case these things matter to you: The hotel has some parking, but it's limited so don't rely on it. There are some rooms with a sea view if thats your thing, but mine had no view (pipes and bricks). The non picturesque side of the hotel is most likely the quietest side - the hotel is right on the beachfront road, not directly in the heart of the night life zone but don't expect silence. I got back at 5am and the town is still buzzing. The night manager was good at keeping reveller noise down. Check in was slightly slow, and I had to remind them about my breakfast order. Both mistakes pretty forgivable in my view. Overall much more good than bad and a solid 4 Nick Mexi15 October 2013
3.5 star ratingThe Staff were helpful and was happy to move us to another room which was lovelyThe rom we first was allocated was not up to scratch. Paint work peeling etc and looked very tatty. Anonymous 20 March 2015
3.5 star ratingStaff were helpful and understood my needs to keep luggage after checking out. They allocated me a room near a lift which helped with my mobility problems. The rooms were clean and the staff cleaned around or rearranged my stuff.I needed to have breakfast earlier than 8.00 AM on weekends as I was there for a conference. The lifts were rather slow and there were rather few options for eating and drinking in the hotel in the evenings.Peter C22 September 2016
