Hotel Information

This beach hotel is one of the most charming hotels in Brighton where visitors are guaranteed a warm and personal welcome. It is located on the seafront directly opposite the famous Brighton Bandstand and very close to the West Pier. The hotel is just a short walk to Brighton's main shopping areas, the famous Lanes with its cobbled passage ways and its myriad of little shops and boutiques. The Brighton Conference Centre is a five minute stroll away and the property is just a stone's throw from the beach. The hotel's elegant lounge, bar and restaurant have enviable sea views. The hotel has 55 well-appointed rooms, and while the hotel is right on the famous Brighton seafront it is just far enough out of the main centre's noisy bars and clubs, so that it is a quiet accommodation. High speed wireless internet access is available free of charge in all rooms and public areas. As a 3 Star accredited hotel we offer Dinner in The Salisbury Restaurant available 7 days a week from 6.30pm till 9.30pm and our Lite Bite Bar Menu is available 7 days a week 24hrs a day.

4.5 star ratingVery clean. All staff encountered extremely polite and efficient.Room fine - a little small, but we paid very little anyway, so didn't expect a huge one. However, we did find that the shower room was very compact i.e. when sitting on the wc only about 12" leg room!!!27 March 2010
3.5 star ratingGood location, on the seafront and a short walk to the centre of Brighton Very small bathroom, sink plug did not work properly, low water pressure on shower. Expected better for the price paid. 01 August 2011
3.5 star ratingLocation on seafront good. Room comfortable although small. Breakfast excellent. Room stuffy, no air cond. and window only partially opened...we encountered very warm, summer days .11 August 2011
3.5 star ratingThe breakfast was lovely and the waiting staff very pleasent. They charge an extra £15 per night (not even 24hrs) to use the car park, and the staff on the front desk were very moody and unwelcoming! We (luckily) had a voucher but if I had paid the full £130 per night for this room I would be very angry... It is not worth the full price... The windows dont close properly meaning the room was windy, the bathroom was so small that a taller person would've had to sit sideways on the toilet! Not the service or presentation I would expect for £130 lcg29 November 2011

3.5 star ratingStaff were very nice, hotel was in a good location . It was very clean and tidy.Bathroom was very very small and you hardly had any room to move. Also the bathroom door would not close as the dor and frame were not levelEssexman07 February 2012
3.0 star ratingThe hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. We got what we paid for, in reality - £31.50 a night you aren't going to get much more for we did.The room was on a slant and we felt like we were on a boat for the duration of our stay. The bathroom was very small and very cold. When we arrived the price that i had agreed to pay was £63 and they had written down £74 - good job I had my confirmation with how much we were paying!! han29 January 2012
3.5 star ratingExcellent sea front location.Would have prefered the option of evening meal. Having taken my elderly mother , who found it difficult to keep walking up to Western rd. 21 February 2012
4.0 star ratingAlthough room small was very clean and decorated to a good standard i would use the hotel againOur room was next to the lift so you could hear noise from the lift in action23 February 2012
4.5 star ratingStephen most helpful and accommodating. Projected pleasant, professional image for Best Western.Nothing, other than expensive parking (£15), cheaper to park on the street after 6:00pm (£4).Chris12 March 2012
4.5 star ratingWe were delighted that our large twin bedded room overlooked the green square and we also had a side view of the sea. We sat looking out sipping our cup of tea and relaxing after our journey. Most excellent. With comfortable beds and a clean bathroom and lots of hot water we had all we needed, though my tall husband could not stand up under the shower and I bumped my head on the sloping roof while getting out of the bath. There were a lot of creaky floor boards above our heads - maybe the boards need to be screwed down - but we appreciate that it is a very old house. I imagine it would cost a lot to sound proof the ceilings! Delicious fresh fruit and yogurt breakfast. We very much enjoyed our stay, particularly at the good price we got through Hotelopia. Staff were lovely. It would have been lovely to have had some really good bread at breakfast, rather than the lifeless slices of brown bread for toasting. The large windows in our room needed a clean!13 March 2012
1.5 star ratingWe ended up not staying at this hotel as the room was awful. It was so small the door hit the bed when we walked in. There was a big stain on the carpet, it smelt musty, the floor tilted so the bed tilted, the ensuite was like a broom cupboard, the shower had black stuff all round the base, the toilet seat did nt fit and the ceiling was peeling paint. All in all horrible. We could nt get a drink in the bar, in fact you could nt walk through the hotel as it was blocked and taken over by a wedding party, we were so fed up by now, we decided to leave. I have written to best western and complained and have requested a refund. Cherpul17 April 2012
2.5 star ratingLocation was very niceRoom was a corner room and extremely, extremely small! The carpet was disgusting, so much that I refused to walk around the room barefoot. Very loud! I was woken up all night by noises from outside and within the hotel.B10 April 2012

4.0 star ratingGreat location. Friendly and helpful staff.En-suite facility was of 1* quality not 3* (Room 422). For such a small area a new shower and tiles would bring it up to standard.26 October 2012
3.0 star ratingwhen we asked to change rooms the receptionist was very nice about it After going to out room windows you couldn't see through, cramped, the bathroom had a nasty smell in it 21 November 2012
3.0 star ratingI was really unhappy because I believe it was false advertisement, on the pictures on the site it showed a four poster bed and the rooms and decor of the hotel were newly decorated. But on arrival the rooms were small the hotel was creaky and uneven when u walked on the floor, the decor was shabby and old and the rooms were very small. I did ask at reception about this and the guy said we have one room as advertised, so I said this is false advertisement and he found this funny. I felt I spent a lot of money on the room, I don't get to get a break often so was disappointed Nat11 March 2013
4.5 star ratingWarm welcome by very professional staff. Comfortable room with sea view. Excellent breakfast menu with food cooked to order. Planning to visit family again and would stay at this hotel again.LynneK31 March 2013
2.0 star ratingStaff were polite.Car parking. I was told that I could not check in before 2pm to park my car but when I arrived at 2.45 all the spaces had been held apart form one. I parked in this space only to be told that it was reserved because other guests had checked in earlier than the 2pm time advised to me. For the duration of my stay that particular space remained free! The room was DISGUSTING, stained carpet, out dated bathroom, archaic shower that was so noisy it was like turning on a hammer drill. Overall that decor of the hotel was in disrepair, surely a pot of paint does not cost the earth. Chipped paint and overall I wouls say that the hotel has not seen any form of redec on the rooms or communial areas for quite some time. There was also a rather unusual smell. The lift was old and noisy, I requested a quiet room so was allocated the room right next to the lift which when used clunked and banged every time (so much for the quiet room). Bird muck on the windows which overlooked a very dirty area. Very shoddy decor and the grouting in the bathroom was dirty and inconsistant. The room was TINY for a double and I had to walk sideways just to get past the bed to the bathroom. Breakfast was just bearable, cheap sausages overcooked bacon and rubbery scrambled egg. There were no staff to cover the bar area and there was a sign which advised guests to go to reception if they wanted a drink (very professional). It really is worth paying a liitle more for a better hotel, or even forget about a hotel a book a Bmandieb25 March 2013

4.0 star ratingWe booked with friends and it was both our Anniversaries. The hotel upgrade one of us to sea view (side) and did not have two rooms the same so gave us all a drink on the house instead. So friendly and professionaljan and phil02 April 2013

2.5 star ratingThe most positive thing about this hotel are the people that work there! All of them very helpful, kind, smiley and very professional. The lobby is very cozy and the atmosphere is lovely.unfortunately I happened to stay there during a strong wind from the sea. The window in my room was damaged and it banged all night waking me up. It had a loose gap at the bottom so it was freely swaying with the wind. The curtains were dancing with the window! Unbelievable! When I complained the following morning to the receptionist, Steve managed to relocate me in no time in a very polite and professional manner. Sadly the new room was in the basement, but at least the window was OK. It seems the management of this establishment are too tight to fix this issue with the windows. I find it very poor considering they charge £100 more for the sea view! Not a great experience and I won't be coming back. Shame as the staff are really nice guys!Stefan14 May 2013
4.5 star ratingJust stayed down for a weekend on my own, lovely clean room and bathroom, nothing to complain about there, free wifi also which makes a change from many big hotels charging silly amounts for such a thing! My room had old style single glazed windows, was ok for this weekend as it was reasonably warm but I can imagine it may get rather cold if there during winterM_traveller21 May 2013
