1.5 star ratingThe breakfast was edible. Great location. The rooms were dirty, and seriously in disrepair. The bed had different types of hair on it my partner put his jumper on the bed and it was covered in different strands in his words it felt as though someone else had just got out of the bed and gone to the bathroom while we were asleep. I requested a seafront room. When given the key to my room i realised it wasn't what i had paid for. When i brought this to there attention i was kindly moved to the floor above, where i was faced with the most gastly room. The windows were cracked there was a strong smell of paint, dust had filled the air, room and there was even a thick layer on the phone. I realise the hotel was having a refurb but for rooms in this state surely they shouldn't be sold? I was deeply disappointed with the whole experience.Angie15 June 2009

4.5 star ratinglocation excellent, room very clean. checked in 2 hrs early with no problem.floors a bit creaky but that's to be expected from a hotel built in 1826 bob01 November 2010
2.0 star ratingGreat location and great views but very noisy both inside and outside this hotel. Whilst staying there one night a high pitched buzzing sound could be heard. We could not locate its source but it was loudest by the wall where we were to sleep. We phoned reception who told us it was all over the hotel and they didn't know what it was! This drone continued until we left the next day. The television was old and had buttons missing and the remote control didn't work. The bath was was a large spa bath but was filthy dirty. When I reported all this to the receptionist she showed little interest and offered no solutions. There seems to be very little pride taken in the work carried out by the staff - front of house looking like they had just got up, unprofessional attitudes, demonstrating a lack of training and sloppy housekeeping. I was very disappointed with the whole stay and was glad to get home for a sleep! mrst06 August 2011
5.0 star ratingThe room gave us a lovely view, and it didn't cost more for seaview. It was quick to check in, and someone was always on the fron desk. The facilities were really clean too, a very enjoyed stay! would recommend.StephB13 October 2011
2.0 star ratingThe manager was helpful in getting the internet connection fixed. The lounge area and location is perfect. Perfect for party goers as it's in town and has already been trashed. All staff were friendly bar one receptionist. The room was in DESPERATE need of refurbishment. For example: bare wires wire showing where a lamp was hanging off the wall. I raised the issue and no action was taken. Bed was awful, carpet was threadbare, TV was knackered, the list goes on..... Food was well below par.Matt27 February 2012

3.0 star ratingRoom was spacious and next to the pierThe hot faucet tap came off when we tried to use it, obviously the hot tap didn't work as desired The tv cable was 'ripped' out from the wall. The actual cable was torn and needs replacing. As I couldn't be bothered to ring up for service, was 10pm just made do with it 15 May 2013
2.0 star ratingWould not return to this hotel if they paid me. The list is so long on negative points that I can't be bothered to statement them.27 August 2013
1.0 star ratingNoneWe arrived at 12pm to find that we could not check-in until 3pm. This was bad enough without the rude, defensive attitude of the staff. There was a sign saying that we could pay 10 pounds extra for a sea view, we asked the bored receptionist if we ha a room with a sea view to which she answered no. We did not bother to pay the extra money as at the point we'd decided that we would be spending as little time as possible at the hotel, we took our bags and tried to find something to do for the next few hours. We were not even invited to wait in the lobby or told about anything we could do whilst waiting We came back to the hotel at 2.55pm to a huge queue. The staff were still rude, and unhelpful, and after receiving our our keys we went up the the 160 per night room. It was like taking a trip back to the 80's, the decor was extremely dated, the soft furnishing were dirty and smelled musty, the curtains were so old and uncared for that they had been belched by the sun, the wood works/furniture were peeling and warped by years of cleaning and the carpet was filthy. The receptionist had lied as we did indeed have a sea view and would have paid 10pounds extra for something we already had. In the end, we stayed at a friends house on her sofa bed rather than face rude staff members and unclean conditions. We will NEVER go back to this hotel again and will make sure we warn anyone else not to. Shan01 October 2013
3.5 star ratingVery cheap compared with other hotels Staff doing their best, Got what I wanted It's just a b&b on a big scale that's needs doing up But the price will go up if renovated , I'm here working in Brighton for a few days so it's ok for me Wouldn't want it as holiday hotel, Anonymous 07 February 2014
3.0 star ratingFantastic position due to being near the pier and the shops.Hotel was scruffy & felt run-down. No Wi-Fi in the room, & hard to get in the public areas. Breakfast was limited & poor. Hardly slept due to a night club just by the hotel which was open until 4am (?) & the constant noise of people screaming, shouting etc.Anonymous 12 December 2016
