1.5 star ratingMy partner and I were extremely dissapointed with this hotel. We were especially upset when we received one bread roll and coffee for breakfast after paying £10 each a day for a breakfast. When we paid extra for this online (which came to £40 for both of us for a weekend for breakfast) we expected a range of foods to the value of our money. I am going to be complaining the booking agent and hotel because of this. We genuinely feel ripped off and being a journalist, I seriously changed my view of the star rating system which I am currently writing about. I complained to the hotel reception but their response was simply "It's not my problem - talk to your booking agent". Again this attitude was highly unprofessional. I have had better accomodation and breakfasts in hostels around Europe. I will be making further complaints about our treatment at Mediodia hotel.20 January 2009
2.5 star ratingLocation excellent. Staff friendly. They ignored our request for a quiet room and said we hadn't requested one! We had a disastrous first night with no sleep, and when we changed rooms the next day - after a wait they eventually found us a quiet room at the back of the hotel - the rest of the stay was fine. The breakfast was poor and my companion didn't take it.What is this?13 March 2009
4.0 star ratingIt is a simple, clean place to stay - no frills. No complaints because the price was right!Jeanne51215 January 2012
3.5 star ratingThe location of the hotel is good, near the Atocha station, Museum Reina Sofia and not very far from the Prado Museum. The room and the bathroom were clean and pleasant. The hotel offers a transfer from/to the airport which was very important for me.Noisiness is the thing I would complain about. The first night in the hotel I did not sleep at all as there was loud music, people talking and walking constantly through the hall, constant sound of slamming the doors, etc.Basically, a group of youngsters feeling like having a party at home. I am surprised that the hotel staff did not intervene. Luckily, the second night was much better.Anonymous24 May 2012
3.0 star ratingLocation is greatRooms are too small, bed was very small. Stuff is not nice: first, they said that there are no room available with a double bed as we requested and we have to wait 1 hour (as if it was not ready), but when we said that we will wait (we did not want two single beds), a room was given to us immediatelyJulia10 December 2012
5.0 star ratingThis hotel is so well located near the main art galleries of Madrid:the Prado, Reina Sofia ( I could monitor the queues for free entry evenings from my hotel balcony)and Thyssen-Bornemisza the botanic gardens and the magnificent El Retiro park; the convenience of Atocha Railway station across the road means you have access to the excellent RENFE trains which enabled me to undertake day trips to cities/towns of note eg Aranjuez and Toledo which lie within a hour's travel from Madrid. Buses outside the hotel took you right to the doorstep of Plaza Mayor, if you chose not to use the Metro. And any tourist 65 and over can purchase a concession card (with proof of age- Passport)and travel on trains in Spain very cheaply. There is also a Tourist Information Van parked in the plaza adjacent to Sofia Reina (and literally 'next door' to the hotel), staffed by young English-speaking Spaniards, who are extremely helpful in providing maps and information about what's happening in Madrid, at the time of your visit. Hotel staff were also courteous and helpful. This is my second stay at the Hotel ( I was there for a week in May in 2012) and I would highly recommend it, for all the above reasons and its excellent value for money, compared to other major hotels in the area. 4.5 star ratingThe WIFI was faultless, unlike our experience elsewhere on this trip. Important if you rely on WIFI and don't have your home country roaming turned on due to associated costs. Rear rooms face the Reina Sofia entry and plaza which offers a visual feast and if it's noisy the double glazed full height doors to your 'Juliet' balcony are excellent. We slept at night windows open, aircon off, bliss. Food options outside the hotel are many and varied. We didn't view the front rooms but they face the massive intersection at the Atocha Railway Station so double glazing is your friend.Dr Dique05 July 2017
