2.5 star ratingEntrance hall impressive. Staff efficient.Shabby room - furniture torn or marked. Bathroom fittings loose. Wardrobe practically fell apart when the doors were opened. Floors so creaky that every movement around every adjacent room is really loud and annoying. Very loud vibrating pipework when other rooms turn on bathroom taps. Laughably poor TV reception in room on all channels. Simply not worth the money.02 September 2008

3.5 star ratingGood location for York and Racecourse.Bit dated. TV in room was set very high on wall, made it hard to watch. Parking although advertised was difficult, very little room,22 November 2011
2.5 star ratingNice entrance / lobby. Friendly staffHotel room was incredibly tired, wlallpaper hanging off the walls, some surfaces very unclean, very dated. Bed was falling apart. Bathroom was dirty as was the floor and window sill. Far too expensive for thwe condition. Virtually no parking, had to park several streets away. Very disappointed for the amount of money. £82 for a twin room, I wouldn't have paid £30 if I'd have known the condition.15 November 2011

5.0 star rating we were made most welcome, the staff were very helpfull and very pleasant. Ideal hotel to use as base for parking the car up for the time that in York as the hotel was within easy walking distance of city. Full english breakfast excellant. Altogether the hotel was very good value for money, would recommend this hotel. Well donecatwoman24 March 2013
3.5 star ratingGood value for money if you are looking for a reasonably-priced bed for the night in an expensive area. The breakfasts were excellent. The hotel rooms are somewhat 'tired' and could do with refurbishing. The carpets weren't vacuumed during our 3-night stay but the beds were clean and fresh towels were put out every day. For the price we paid and the amount of time actually spent in the hotel, overall we felt it was good value.19 November 2013
1.0 star ratingCheapBlood on bed sheet, unmotivated staff, shower not working properly, broken equipment, unclean room.28 November 2013
2.5 star ratingThe staff were friendly and moved their own cars so we and another set of guests could park. The room itself was clean. Not enough parking available. Bathroom tiles and bin were filthy with soap scum. Curtains were so thin they might as well not have been there. Decor and furniture were cheap. Bed really uncomfortable. I really object to paying £100 for one night when we said the same in a 4 star hotel in Scotland recently and the experience and quality of our stay was so much better.Anonymous 15 April 2014
2.5 star ratingHash browns at breakfast were good.Hotel badly needs refreshed. We were actually put in Elmbank Lodge across the road from main hotel which smelt as soon as you opened the door to its stairway. Décor in room was very aged and needed gutted.Anonymous 08 July 2014
