2.5 star ratingSorry, nothing very positive. Thought the room was very shabby and the carpet was filthy. The staff were less than positive and only one member of staff (a barman) had a smile. The breakfast staff were more interested in standing around chatting than trying to help. The one good thing I could find was the quality and variation of the food at breakfast. Was actually short changed at the hotel twice and on checkout was asked to pay for goods from the mini bar that we had not used - although this was resolved easily.Too many staff hanging around doing nothing - but always looking for a tip. Would not go back there and will not recommend it to any one. 02 October 2008

4.0 star ratingRoom very clean. Facilities excellent. Staff at pool and bar very, very good. Coffee at breakfast in main eating area was undrinkable. Shocking bad quality. Otherwise food was grand. 01 August 2009
5.0 star ratingAlthough we booked at a very cheap rate, we got an upgrade to a room with a wonderfull view at the Málacon and the Atlantic. Breakfast buffet was great, historical hoteltour very interesting and well-guided.father08 May 2011

4.0 star ratingA very beautiful historic hotel, in such great setting on the male con. The gardens are very attractive, and well kept. The food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Our room was comfortable, however did need some attention to detail -- ie; window cleaning, bath tub / faucet repairs.GWS12 March 2012
3.0 star ratingBeautiful art deco building with a loby out of the movies, Lovely garden bar under the back patio facing the ocean with friendly and attentive staff, however you need to tip.The lobby had a slight musty smell, however our room plus many others had a very strong musty smell which is not good for your lungs especially if you suffer from asthma. The showers were OK but the water was over treated with chemicals which effected our skin, producing a rash in various places. We arrived late so we ate at the hotel buffet down stairs which on entry seemed wonderful as there was so much food to choose from, however when we settled in, and started choosing our food we found all the food overcooked mushy and when we ate completely tasteless. The breakfast was no different apart from the fresh fruit which was our saviour.. The breakfast staff had a real public service mentality and went walk about speaking with others or disappearing for 10 plus minutes several times so it was hard to get coffee etc., however I must say the man making omelettes continually worked diligently. The biggest disappointment happened when I checked the bill, on checking out of the hotel. The buffet dinner which we had on our first night was double the price, so I asked to see the bill, which on examination had many items that we did not have or purchased. I pointed this out to the cashier who said that I could discuss this with the General Manager, who I must say was hard to find. I explained the problems with the bill, however the GM was not interested in my explanation and pointed to the Bill and said I must pay. This I eventually did as I did not want to spoil our holiday so I went back to the cashier and paid with cash and then asked for the copy of my credit card imprint as I did not want to leave this behind and have extra charges appearing on my credit card at some later time. The cashier refused to give it back and I then had to insist for what appeared to be 15 minutes before she reluctantly produced it and gave it back to me. Items to watch if you decide to stay at the hotel. The security box costs 2 CUC (USD2 plus) a night Put lines under the last item of your bill before you sign. Keep track of all items that you charge to your room. Have very quick showersBill06 October 2012
3.0 star ratingThe building itself is beautiful and a great location with beautiful outdoor areas for relaxing. We found the staff in the hotel particularly unhelpful. Wifi which you expect as standard in a 5 star hotel was £15 per day per device. We had a problem wih the toilet in our bedroom when we arrived and had to call reception 3 times and still no one came. Eventually we were able to resolve the issue ourselves. We were very disappointed with the quality of service. We booked the Nacional as a treat for our last night on Cuba with the intention of not leaving the hotel grounds: but in the end we spent as little Time as possible there Cuba traveller 27 October 2012
1.5 star ratingThe staff were not helpful at all. The rooms sre noisey-paperthin walls. The area is sketch and unsafe no food cafes close at all. Everything in this hotel was expensive compared to the street food.09 April 2013

3.5 star ratingBeautiful garden terrace, nice view from the room and clean bathroom No doubt it is an historical Hotel that is worth to be in, at least onceAlthough we arrive at 16.30, and the room has been booked a month in advance we had to wait at reception for 20 minutes to have our room assigned main swiming pool was not available for use (was being filled up with water) Main dinning room was reserved for an specific groupAl04 June 2013
1.5 star ratingThe building, lobby area and grounds are quite grand and have so much history to them. The views of the sea and Malecon from the outside bar terrace are amazing. There is a free mini museum near the outside bar terrace that explains the Cuban Middle crisis. The staff were generally friendly. Tour desk and currency exchange desk in hotel lobby were useful to have. No hot water for some of our showers. Charge of 25CUCs each for any meals - buffet dinner was appalling and they don't let you charge to room. Room was dirty, smelly and despite asking for the towels to be changed, they had just been hung back up on the towel racks and turned around (we had tipped housekeeping 3CUCS so extra disappointing). Internet at $10 USD per hour is ridiculous for a supposedly 5star hotel. Although they have a gym, it wasn't made clear at any point that you have to pay 5CUCs per person per visit and they don't even have complimentary water in the gym let alone in the rooms. 3.0 star ratingGood breakfast, beautiful architecture, big bedrooms.Unusually slow service (even for Cuba). A bit hyped, this is a good place to go for a mojito and Cabaret, but the hotel is nothing special and there are better located options in Habana Vieja, and better dinner restaurants.Mr T27 January 2014
4.0 star ratingGrand old hotel with glimpses of what it once was. Lots of history on the site from Spanish occupation to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Has wireless internet that is reasonably priced in terms of being in Cuba.Cannot drink tap water and bottled water is 2.5 CUC for a tiny bottle. Walk 200m down the street to the south to a local store and buy your water there for MUCH cheaper.Anonymous 30 January 2014

Anonym 07 August 2014
4.0 star rating- Amazing history and furniture - Great view from the terraze - Interesting guided tour - Comfortable rooms with aircondition and good water pressure- Not very cleanAnonym 09 August 2014
3.5 star ratingLots of facilities, lovely location. Steeped in history. Good entertainmentStaff ambivalence, though a select few were really good. Poor quality beverages. Very expensive WiFi, which was very slow and had weak signal.Anonymous 17 September 2014
4.0 star ratingHotellet har alle fasiliteter, det eneste du trenger å gå ut av hotellet for er og oppleve Havanna.Du må betale en avgift for å bruke internett/WiFi.Anonym 15 October 2014
5.0 star ratingThe history and ambience of the Nacional provided a unique and extremely enjoyable experience. Our stay at the hotel was central in our stay in Havana being so memorable. We would encourage the hotel to never change to ensure future visitors are able to ensure this unique experience.Replace carpets in rooms and hallways with hard flooring. Have ATM facilities within the hotel.Barry Dancer15 October 2014

5.0 star ratingThe place is gorgeous, the history behind the hotel is amazing and the staff is friendly and always willing to helpI have nothing bad to say about this place. I absolutely loved it.Maria10 July 2017
1.0 star ratingThis hotel was horrible. Do not stay here. The staff were so unfriendly. We asked to get some change for our money and they said no. We asked for hot water as the rooms don't have kettles and they didn't pick up the phone. After I went downstairs they charged me for it. We asked where the city tour bus is and they said go outside and take two lefts. We asked for a map and more directions and they said no. The hotel looks ok from outside and but the rooms are really unpleasant. Lots of rust, paint peeling, etc. The buffet food for breakfast is ok but far from good. I sateongly advise against staying hereAnonymous 01 June 2017
