4.0 star ratingHotel was pretty standard, room wasn't huge but we didn't pay very much so didn't expect much!! Good value for money, it was cleaned daily and fresh towels. The room was absolutely freezing! We stayed over new year (there was snow a few days) and the heating was on a timer... we were very cold! The friendliness of the staff on reception was a bit of a down point. We couldn't check in till 3pm either- which we weren't aware of until we arrived. We also weren't allowed to wait in the reception/lobby area. Felt like we'd been kicked out on the street! 26 May 2010

1.5 star ratingI will start with the positive and the only one was that the staff were very friendly. Negatives as follows... Our room was not ready for us to check into until almost 4pm. When we got to it the room was disgusting and was full of smoke. There was half a roll of toilet roll between 3 and no toiletries. One bed was stained!! I don't believe the room was cleaned at all, I think we were just let straight in as it was so late. I called reception to ask if I was able to purchase a toothbrush and I was told for 4euro the machine had little packs called just for you or something like that so off I went and made a purchase. When I brought it back to the room I opened it to find a razor. I called back to reception and was told they were labelled. Off I went again as I knew they were not. I brought the girl from reception to look and she told me I was right but unfortunately she couldn't refund me. Breakfast was not good and I'm not a fussy eater. All in all I would not recommend this hotel. Cheap but certainly not cheerful!Jan22 June 2011

4.0 star ratingThe hotel is in a very convenient location within very easy access for getting to the major tourist areas of Dublin. After the initial hiccup on the first evening we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a nice atmosphere about it. The room was comfortable and clean, once we were moved. The outlook from the room was a bit bleak as we were at the back of the hotel. All in all we had a very nice stay at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 9.30 at night after travelling most of the day. On walking down the corridor towards our allocated room we could smell cigarette smoke, a real turn off for me. The room was on the ground floor on a main thoroughfare for the carpark with people regularly walking past the window. The window was wide open and the room was absolutely freezing. The window had obviously been left open in an attempt to get rid of the smell of smoke. I was really tired and just wanted to put my feet up. There was no I could do that in the room. I frankly found it insulting that we would be put in a room like that. I went to reception to ask to be moved. the receptionist was quite offish and said 'the heating is on in there and it will warm up!!' It was freezing, it would have taken at least an hour for it to warm up and it would still have been stinking of smoke. She eventually, reluctantly gave us another room on the second floor. This room was much better, what you would expect, warm and sweet smelling! This episode did give me a bad feeling about the hotel from the beginning however. This was a pity as for the rest of our stay I couldn't fault it.Ange19 May 2012
