2.0 star ratingWe have stayed in this hotel a number of times in the past four years and it has slowly gone downhill, time for a referb. Or maybe we were just unlucky with our room. DUSTY, CIGARETTE BURNS IN BEDSPREAD, SOGGY MATTRESS, BAD LIGHTING......also tried to make us pay for breakfast although it was in the price, lucky i had kept my confirmation26 September 2008
4.0 star ratingclean and quiet. value for moneyStaff on checkout were a bit rude. told us to stay put until they found out if we had paid. We had paid in full prior to our stay. Which check in staff acknowledged when we had arrived.27 October 2008
4.0 star ratingIt was a very low price and there were tea & coffee facilities and I managed to get free wifi (probably an adjacent building, I think you were supposed to pay for the in room wifi)Room radiator was off so room was freezing when I go there. Paper thin walls. Breakfast was not great07 December 2009
3.5 star ratingThe breakfast was fine and the restaurant staff helpfulThe bathroom left a lot to be desired. The door handle was hanging off and the wash basin was only big enough to wash one hand at a time. For most of the night sleep was impossible due to drunken revellers from a function at the hotel shouting and running about and it would appear randomly ringing room phones. Also the fire alarm was activated at around 5.00am. This may also have been malicious as there was no fire.Sam08 December 2009
3.0 star ratingGet that lift fixed. The sky channels didn't work in room 101 and a bad picture.08 December 2009
4.5 star ratingwe had an initial problem with a non flushing toilet but the staff were brilliant and we ended up with a much better room. breakfast was made fresh to order and was lovely. free parking. very easy to find. the toilet didnt flush in our first room and we were on the 4th floor and the lift didnt work02 December 2009

4.0 star ratingConvenient location, economic price via lateroooms, clean basic room, good breakfast, willing staff.Poor telly, noisy corridor early morning.16 March 2010
2.5 star ratingGood location, close to Broad street; Staff are friendly and always try to resolve the problems when request. Like a motel, heater not working during a freezing night but turned on around 10 o'clock the second morning (which I believe most of the passengers have already checked out). Hair dryer not working, when asked the reception staff, been allowed to use the one next door. Hotel description says rooms include TV facilities, but nothing when first checked in, again, have to request from the reception. Song23 November 2010
5.0 star ratinglocation is great, loved the the rooms connected by the outside balcony. nonesafari17 November 2010
4.5 star ratingFriendly staff, very close to various restaurants.Mould around the windows left little to the imagination. The shower had no power whatsoever and felt like I was standing under a light spring rain which took me ages to get wet.Sy06 December 2010
2.5 star ratingVery cheap.Seems to be the place where those waiting for a Council flat/house are temporarily housed. Thin walls mean that when some yobs come back to their room at 4.30am, you get woken up. Also, if you get a ground floor room, you get woken up by all the drunks throughout the night. Front, reception window had been smashed.06 December 2010
4.0 star ratingThe breakfast was very good, the staff were polite. The hotel has free parking on site. The room was warm and spacious.Lots of stairs if on the top floor, did not see a lift or lift sign. The TV was very small and dated and the walls are very thin could hear guest conversation in the neighbouring room.Kensam06 December 2010
4.5 star ratingThe hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful. At the moment the rooms are all being redone. we were in a room that hasn't been done yet and the bed was very uncomfortable. We have been told that all the beds are being replaced so hopefully next time the bed will be better.02 March 2011

4.0 star ratingGood Value, good location of main road. 2miles from town center. Clean room, clean shower facilities. room felt stuffy, the bed sheets were not comfortable, the bed spring were damaged hence was a restless sleep. Bilal02 March 2011
4.0 star ratingOnly one complaint the shower temperature changed very quickly one minute cold then very hot.13 March 2011
4.0 star ratingMost of the staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was excellent as was cleanlinessOn our second night we were constantly disturbed by noise from other guests outside the reception area. Despite phoning down to reception the night staff were not interested in doing anything about it. Made useless comments and did not ask the people to be quiet or move them on. Have made a complaint but as yet have not received a response or apology04 May 2011
1.0 star ratingTerrible hotel! dirty rooms, lights not working, dirty walls, unhelpfull staff add to that the place is basically a converted council estate style property. Plenty of proper hotels on the hagley road, my advise is to stay elsewhere.dave12 April 2011
2.0 star ratingFree parking, good location and breakfast was okay.Bed was awful, the worst I have ever slept in. It was like the ones you find in student houses but worse. The lights weren't all working in the room so the room was dark. Also the blankets on the bed were dirty, one was covered in hair. To top it all off we got woken up at 4am by a group of screaming girls, reception (which was just below our room) did nothing about it. Not a great experience.pageygal22 April 2011

4.5 star ratingTravelled alone to attend a conference towards the end of September 2011. The Apollo is excellent value. I stayed in a twin-bedded room on the second floor which has recently been refurbished. (I understand from staff that all the rooms are in the process of being refurbished). My room was compact, but perfectly adequate - light, bright and modern. The well-lit, white and stainless steel bathroom was particularly impressive, given the it had been configured in a relatively small space. The staff were all helpful, friendly and pleasant. The cleaning of the room was impeccable. I didn't take breakfast or eat in the hotel, so unable to comment on that aspect. No problem with noise even though my courtyard room on the second floor overlooked the entrance to the hotel. The Apollo is situated on the Hagley Road, on the western approach to the city, where lots of hotels are situated. Taxis (extremely plentiful and efficient) cost about £5-£6 to get to and from the conference centre in Broad Street, though being a major arterial route, there seemed to be lots of buses running along the Hagley Road. The door entry card I used didn't work for summoning the lift, but staff were always around and helpful in using their pass card to get the lift. (The hotel is built, motel-style, with access to the rooms via external balconies). Annoyingly, wifi didn't work in the rooms, only in the public areas, and even then the reception staff had to reset the server for me on several occasions to get an internet connection. Staff were generally very willing and helpful, but when I came to check in on the Saturday afternoon there was only one member of reception staff on duty, and she was also doubling up as "barman" for the bar area adjoining reception, though she seemed to be coping very well, even when a tour party arrived, just after I had settled down with my gin and tonic. 1.0 star ratingAbsolutely disgacefull stay, condition of room was poor, nothing and i mean nothing worked, Saddam hussein would not have recommended this hotel to his enemies18 October 2011
4.0 star ratingThe room was clean and well presented, all the necessities were there and the staff were helpful enough. Security to the building and room was good. The actual building was very uninviting, stairwells and corridors looked very unactractive and the carpets were old, stained and mismatched.03 November 2011
