4.0 star ratingThe hotel was in a good position, close to all amenities for easy travel. Overall it was cleas and the staff were friendly. l was not impressed with the activities(nightly) that were on offer. This was disappointing overall due to the high standard of accommodation and the facilities.The food was okay but the same everyday. Although l am aware that cuba cusine is basic l have travelled often and also stayed in family homes and this hotel thankfully l only stayed in for 4 days. Although l booked all inclusive l do not normally and l realiase for all inclusive it was basic. This not not only my opinion as l met and befriended a number of international tourists who had similar thoughts.19 December 2008

3.5 star ratingPrice, rooms...Not all staff members are professional,...sometimes you ask for something simple and you will be asked to pay (for example for simple information when the bus leaves to Havana....generally in Cuba all locals are looking to get some money from you.....) Food is not that nice (you can always find something for yourself to eat but generally it is not that good) Beach is some 200-300m away (for us it was not a problem but for some people it can be) Bar in the lobby is called Mojito, but they never had mint and therefore were never able to prepare mojito....also, bar in the lobby is filled with cheap local spirits (e.g. instead of famous, and also not expensive rum Havana Club, they serve some bad rums.... Bar at the beach has only beer and some juices (not all the drinks like lobby bar) At the beach you have aqua sports free of charge, but windsurf was never operating.... NikolaBG04 October 2012

2.5 star ratingThe cleening of the room was good. We have been at this hotel nine years ago too. And the food is the same. Not specially good,The drinks was very good nine years ago, now they serve from drinkmix in plasticglasses. A lot of canandian at the hotel whose pupose is to drink at much as they can. The hotel needs an renavation. Think it hasn´t been renevated since the last time for nine years,27 February 2013

2.5 star ratingBig and clean rooms.The food is very bad. Breakfast was full of fat and warm food, lunches and dinners were not better. The quality of drinks was vey poor - I would prefer to have 3 good drinks in the evening than the ones that were served in the hotel. The lobby of the hotel was smelly - as if someone vomited there- was not possible to stand or sit there. I would not recommend it to anyone.07 April 2013

2.5 star ratingMost hotels in Varadero are not comparable to hotels in other holiday destinations. Remember this is Cuba. But even compared to other hotels in Varadero, the Palma Real was not very good. We didn't like the food and also the staff was not very friendly. We stayed only 2 nights and changed hotels after that. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody.Meindert26 August 2013
2.0 star ratingThe only reason to visit this hotel is due to the world class beach that's located 4 minutes away (by walking).I'm sorry to say that everything could have been a lot better. The room was very worn down, it wasn't really clean, the facilities (pool, gym etc.) was extremely worn down and in some cases broken. The quality of the food was horrible, the staff was in most cases very uninspiring (and in some cases polite). (most of the hotels in Cuba gave me a similar experience, I would recommend finding a very nice Casa Particular instead.)02 September 2013

2.5 star ratingThe hotel is stated as 4 stars hotel, but I would give max 2,5 stars. The resort is old, needs a lot repair works. The elevator was never working, during our 2 weeks stay we could use elevator only twice! Shower water was never stable, either it was too hot or too cold. Showering was really bad experience. Dining area was quite unpleasant, as there was seen mold on the walls. Food quality was fair, nothing special. The coffee was good only in lobby bar, in dining area only instant coffee was offered. So-called a la carte restaurants didn´t deserve a la carte name, as the food and service were so poor. Reception was sometimes very unprofessional, we had to wait 4 hours, as they couldn´t find our booking! When they did, no appologies were heard. So, I´m probably not going to stay in Palma Real again, as it certainly is not worth the money.Anonymous 08 February 2014
