4.5 star ratingOur family had an excellent stay in the Hotel Fron for one week over Christmas 2016. Iceland is an extremely well organised country to visit due to its networking communication with all service providers. We commenced by travelling with Icelandic air, then airbus with Reykjavík excursion (which we had to transfer at the bus station onto the mini bus to take us down the smaller streets in the city centre) and then we had to walk around the corner to our hotel with our cases due to road works. We had two apartments for self catering (which was essential for several days over Christmas when restaurants were closed, leaving noodle bars etc the only choice for dining available with long queues outside in the cold air). We had (continuously replenished) self service continental breakfasts in the main building of: fruit, cheese, ham, tomatoes, cucumber, cereals, preserves, various bread, some ginger biscuits or cakes, yoghurt, hot and cold drinks to set you off for the day. The restaurant was available to dine in within the evening also. We had daily maid service and both of our rooms quietly looked over parking areas where there was no noise (as we had asked not to overlook the main street ,as we had read reviews night life noise could be an issue). The 24 hour reception staff were efficiently already prepared for the guests at breakfast time, with printed off tour cancellations for guests to read due to stormy weather, to allow time for alternative plans to be thought about during breakfast. When the storms hit, they can blow over mini buses as well as ground whale watching. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and recommend our apartments within the Hotel Fron for many reasons, including being helpful and answering many of our questions before we arrived. Items to mention; the sulphur smell tourist reviews mention from tap/shower water is no big concern and its only the same water in bottles from the close by Bonus supermarket (don't waste your money buying). It can be very hot in the rooms, even when the radiator thermostats are turned fully down. The hotel and Volcano House museum can give you up-to-date weather and tours information, along with the tourist information offices. You can pre book tours on Iceland Air before landing or go to Harpa concert hall and book with Sterna who are a little less expensive and we were fortunate to have the same guide twice, who liked to call himself the Emperor and was an excellent geologist guide and source of information and another friendly face during our welcoming stay in the Hotel Fron and Iceland. 4.5 star ratingCentrally located within shopping district and walking distance of harbour. Very clean hotel, good continental breakfast with great coffee! We had a family room with kitchenette which was invaluable. Very good value for money. Would definately recommend it and would stay again.Only minor gripe would be not having a kettle in the kitchenette. Would have been very handy to make cup of tea, had to use saucepan instead. There was a coffee machine in kitchenette but no filters and no coffee.Anonymous 17 March 2017

5.0 star ratingThe room was huge, it was a B&B booking but the room had full self catering facilities too, brilliant if you want to keep to a budget. The room was clean and bright, modern and the beds comfortable. Shower was amazing. It's on the main high street, 5 mins away from the bonus supermarket and 10 mins from the harbour. All trips pick up from outside the hotel. Anonymous 13 December 2016

4.5 star ratingVi hadde bestilt dobbeltrom, men ble overrasket med en leilighet med to soverom og kjøkken. Ligger veldig sentralt, perfekt beliggenhet for oss.Veldig enkel frokost, men med alt det elementære som brød, toast, syltetøy, ost, skinke og frokostblanding.Anonym 17 February 2016
