3.5 star ratingA big hotel near to the DLR and hence the rest of London. The room was a good size and the facilities good for the price paid Breakfast simple but OK Gym and pool very good and the staff were generally helpful and friendly.A little old fashioned and tired but being refurbished so should be OK for the future. Parking expensive but cheaper is available nearby. A few odd characters around on weekend special deals but they didn't cause any problems. Jim02 November 2009

4.0 star ratingThe hotel was convienient and well presented. On arrival at the reception i presented my voucher and was then asked to make payment. I said i had already paid and felt quite embarrassed, the receptionist then said no i hadnt paid, it was just a reservation and asked for £80, i presented my card, it was at this point another member of staff said that this was prepaid.Scott W29 April 2013
2.5 star ratingThe view from the room was amazing, and you upgraded our room choice which was very kind. The air conditioning did not work, the room was 27degrees day and night and no opening windows which made our stay very unpleasant. We booked half board, but the restaurant we had to use was closed when we arrived and did not open early enough for us to eat before we had to travel to the O2, and was closed when we returned. So we paid again for another meal in the pizzeria, which was bland and the drinks were overcharged, I have never seen such a small bottle of coke! And at 2.75 for 100 ml! The electric socket in the room sparked when you put in or took out a plug! So my birthday weekend was not the best on account of not being able to sleep in 27 degrees. Buble fan 08 July 2013
2.5 star ratingnice viewshotel was very tatty and not four star have stayed in better 2 star hotels breakfast was awful and cheap quality food07 August 2013
3.0 star ratingCar parking was very expensive for what was a dirty and scruffy underground area. My car left dirtier than when it went in due to fumes being blown from some air vents, not impressed.23 August 2013
3.0 star ratingThe Britannia is a very dated hotel that needs a lot of work to modernize it. The Standard room we had was stuck in the 80`s complete with peeling wallpaper and a groaning, noisy Air conditioning system. It was clean however. Breakfast was a typical buffet selection but nothing out of the ordinary infact quite basic. Not sure on how it recieved a 4* billingScott Morton08 October 2013
3.5 star ratingI was initially worried about booking the hotel due to concerns over cleanliness and how dated it might be. I needn't have worried - The room was spotlessly clean. Bed nice and firm. Staff helpful Great location at a very reasonable price.Could certainly do with updating the decor. Air-con was rather ineffectual and windows won't open so would avoid staying in summer!NickB13 February 2014
3.5 star ratingWe got upgraded! The hotel was very full with a wedding party so we got put in a Jacuzzi suite that had a balcony (shared) with a lovely view of the shard and the eye, plus lots of room. It's in a great part of London. What use is a Jacuzzi suite if there is no hot water? Ended up going to the spindles club to use their Jacuzzi only to be told it cost extra, Also we were there on a Fri night/ Sat morning- Why would they allow their maids to smash on peoples doors before 8am? If at all? Surely there is a computerised system that shows them who has checked out? Spindles is also full of mould and bugs. Not worth paying for- it should be complementary until they sort it out at the very least. You also have to pay for a towel- yes- even if you're a guest in there. Didn't think much of the breakfast but the reception and the concierge were lovely. Anonymous 15 October 2014
5.0 star ratingThe room was very clean, the shower FANTASTIC, and everything worked the way it should. I felt like I received great value (also because my room was upgraded on arrival, so I received a bigger room than I booked). I had booked a special price, and usually would not have been able to stay in such an expensive place (expensive for me, I know other people have plenty of money for such things!). I loved the deco that was in the hotel, and I found it had class. I loved that it felt like a proper hotel out of a classic movie. I liked the style.None - I was surprised to read the negative reviews here. People who think this hotel is outdated probably just would like to live in a hotel that looks like a star ship: cold and impersonal without any class.Kim A.29 December 2014
1.0 star ratingNothingNo windows in room No Wifi Room smelled of a bad odor No control over the air con - and it was blasting out very cold air above the bed all night even after the staff assured me it will turn off automatically at 930pm - which it didn't - it carried on the whole 9 hours I was in the room. Called 3 times by reception by mistake looking for another guest. Room was outside a main door which slammed consistently through out the night. Poor / non existing fire escape instructions Fortunately, I only had to stay in this dump for 9 hours of my life - I would have been better off sleeping in my car. Anonymous 05 June 2015
2.5 star ratingThe staff at reception were welcoming. The staff at breakfast time were lazy and couldnt care less. There was a sign asking you to wait to be seated, once they knew your room number you could sit where you liked. The breakfast was awful. Stale croissants, at least two days old. The cooked breakfast wasnt up to a very good standard. The coffee was on the table in a pot which had been there a while and for tea you took your cup once you found one to a pot of water which by the time you added bag and milk was cold. Most hotels are self service but provide you with fresh tea and coffee and toast once you are seated. The hotel needs tlc as things are looking tatty. The room was stifling hot as the air con wasnt working. A few people were complaining about the same issues. Ive stayed there twice as handy for o2 but wont stay again.Anonymous 18 June 2015
2.5 star ratingMöbler och ytor slitna, fönster gick inte att öppna och ACn fungerade dåligt mitt i rådande värmebölja. Hissarna lät illa, och den ena repeterade "door, door, door" om och om igen.Anonym 10 July 2015

2.0 star ratingI stayed 2 nights. First night, they didn't have my room available! Yes, I pre-paied for a room, and arrived to discover they gave it to somebody else!!!!! They promised to move me to a better room on the second night. So I left my bags packed, ready to be moved. Just to arrive next night to discover they didn't move anything!!!!! The guy on reception wanted to blame me that I didn't pack my bags or left the don't disturb sign, which didn't happen. Finally he had to move me to another room. But I already spent 50% of my stay on a shitty room without windows, paying for it more that it's value!!Tamer Elsayed16 December 2015
1.5 star ratingThe staff were badly dress with stained shirts (never a good sign). On checking in I was asked to switch from the double I ahd booked and paid for to a twin (single beds) as they were overbooked. No offer of refunding the price difference. There is no free wifi except in teh lobby, apart from 20 minutes. The directions to find the rooms are printed paper attached to the walls with tape. I was given a room at the top of the stair by reception, amazingly noisy all night, with a gap under the door letting in light! Despite having requested extra pillows none were provided. The room was freezing, the raidiator did not work and was leaking. I ordered room service, which i was told would be 20-25 minutes. After 50 it arrived and was stone cold. When i called to complain i was told i would have to come downstairs (at 23:55 after waiting 15 minutes for them to call back to see if i could be refunded). Altogether not worth the money. Spend more and stay somewhere warm, clean. comfortable and with better service.Tipsi8224 November 2015
3.0 star ratingThe hotel was nice and had a distinct feel about it. Based on a traditional setting, more so than an upbeat, modernised city hotel that you might expect in a busy part of London. The rooms were of a good size and comfortable, although the double felt smaller than the one I sleep in at home (however, I could be wrong!). The restaurant was peaceful in the morning and not overcrowded with other guests which is a bonus. Despite only being in the hotel for one night, I am a keen tea drinker, and felt that there was a lack of tea (and coffee). There were only 2 sachets of each. This wasn't a problem, as I nipped down to reception to fetch more, however this could have been avoided. The receptionist seemed hell bent on upgrading us to a better room with a window for only £20 more, after explaining that we would only be staying for one night which included breakfast, she offered to upgrade us for free with two singles, which we declined (kind of defeats the purpose when your travelling with your partner). Despite being offered a room with a view, we still managed even that on level 8 (there's only 12 in all). The only criticism I'd have about the breakfast is that you might want to get down early, I woke up at 9, leaving us an hour to eat, but the food started to go off after being on the heat for so long, the bacon tasted like dry cured meat and the black pudding was nearing a dry crumbly state. As far as a full English goes, it was good! Finally, I feel that the hotel itself could do with a bit of a tidy up and refresh, the room we stayed in was in bit of a need for some TLC, I can't criticise this as we were only there to sleep, drink and eat however, with guests making a longer visit, some may feel more precious about this than I.
