2.5 star ratingdead pigeon on balcony, no shower in room, facilities dated and worn in bathroom despite superior room, check in procedures long - didn't have my booking took 40 mins to sort out.17 June 2010
4.0 star ratingVery good for the discounted price. Single room spacious enough, improved games room. Very pleasant area for sitting and relaxing. Good offers on food and drink during the day. Mainly adult and elderly guests meant that there was a peaceful atmosphere. Staff were generally helpful and professional.Service in the dining room was inconsistent. On two occasions I was served immediately with tea, but on the middle day sitting in a different part of the dining room I was virtually ignored. The hotel looks it's age in places and the refurbishment needs to continue.Allyrice02 July 2010

2.5 star ratingThe room I had was ok for a 3 star hotel. the bed had clean sheets and the W/C had been cleaned to the best of someones ability. This really is the best I can say about this dilapidated hole that relies too much on its dated and badly repaired decoration to hide the fact that it is poorly ran with almost no service. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU ON THE SITE! Parking is on a first come first served basis, so be prepared to hunt down a parking area (as the staff won't help you). So what if you booked a room 2 weeks ago. You'll need to find a parking space yourself (even if you are differently able, like me). It took me 45 minutes to walk back to the hotel from the parking space I found, as I'm on crutches and walking is difficult. Graffiti in a hotel? Not even the good artsy kind either. Because the clientele is not vetted, Don't expect a good nights sleep either. I didn't actually sleep in my room as I couldn't face the noize. I collected my bag from my room and left the hotel in the early hours of the morning.Stephen C31 July 2013
2.0 star ratingGood LocationAbrupt reception staff! No information offered; had ask everything! Room 138 had not been hoovered! Messy carpet with bits everywhere! Member of staff in dining room wiped his runny nose with the back of his hand! Hotel needs a complete re-furb and new re-trained staff! Wouldn't stay there again if they paid me! Room 133 very noisy with outside revellers until 4am!Here's Johnnie 06 August 2013
3.0 star ratingHotel position is what attracts so many disabled and scooter plus wheel chair users. Cant blame them for choosing the hotel. It's ideal for their needs. The car parking is very good with plenty of parking spaces. Reasonable cost of £3.00 per night. Excellent cabaret in the evening. Really first class. Only stayed on a bed/ breakfast tarrif. The breakfast was quite good with a reasonable choice of food.Overall cleanliness is'nt up to the mark. The outside area was in constant need of cleaning up after the smokers. The dining room was not the cleanest with sticky tables and not very clean cut'lery. Some staff uniforms needed cleaning Hotel management did'nt seem to care about looking after the evening floor shows in respect of children going on to the floor while the cabaret was on. We felt sorry for one girl singer who was trying to give her best with two young children dancing round and pawing her. Sorry but we wont be comeing back.Barmyday17 August 2013
Stayed here for the rebellion punk weekend 8th to 12th August 2013 and is quite close to the winter gardens. Good car park (however turn up early). This hotel is very dated, tired, dirty and does need an urgent makeover. The room that we were given had no towels which resulted in an argument with the reception staff - it seemed that it was my fault that towels were not supplied and it was only upon my instance that they seemed to be supplied (a wait of approximately 1 hour).
