Reviews

RatingPositive PointsNegative PointsReviewerStayed
4.5 star rating- The decor and finish of the public areas was excellent. - The rooms were lovely and the bathroom was beautiful. - The rooms were well equipped. - The bed was very comfortable.- The staff were not able to provide 5 star service which let the rest of the hotel down. - Service at breakfast was incredibly slow. It took 10 minutes before anybody took our hot food order - if on business this would cause real disruption. - Service at breakfast was poor. I had to ask for apple juice twice before I received it and I also had to ask for toast twice. I ordered white toast but when I finally got it I got one slice of brown and one slice of white. This was for both myself and my girlfriend so we only got one slice each. - Service at checkout was also poor. I was shown a list of charges for my room which I verified and agreed to. I then paid with my credit card but upon checking my receipt I noticed I had been charged for breakfast. This was not on the bill I had verified and I had booked the room on a bed and breakfast basis!! When I challenged this I was told that the room had been booked room only. I said that this was not the case and it was definitely booked to include breakfast. The member of staff then checked a 'back up' list of bookings and found that my booking did include breakfast. He mumbled an apology but was not very convincing. I got the money charged for breakfast refunded.RichardB27 August 2009
4.5 star ratingVery welcoming, warm and cosy.onli dissappointment was there was no proper designated smoking area and/or specific smoking rooms available. Very uncomfortable to have to smoke in the main street.14 February 2010
5.0 star ratingAfter reading reviews of the Fitzwilliam we were really looking forward to staying there. The experience was even better than the reviews. A delicious cooked breakfast set us up for the day. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We will definitely be back.Andy. Scotland.16 July 2010
4.5 star ratingVery professional check in, all the staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay. Excellent breakfast.Room was very small, extremely tight fit for 2 people and in the middle of the hotel, it was extremely dark very little natural light, not a standard I would expect from a 4 star hotel. Not helped by the fact that on Saturday evening there was no hot water in the hotel until about 7.15 p.m. due to a boiler breakdown.29 September 2010
4.5 star ratingStaff very friendly. Consierge arrnaged a black cab tour for us and the guy was excellent. His name was Mark Neil and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Gorgeous breakfast. Hotel in a central location.Decor a bit too modern for my taste. There was tea and coffee facilities in the bedroom but a biscuit would have been nice. Rooms were serviced very late in the afternoon.31 August 2011

3.5 star ratingOverall a decent hotel with good atmosphereThe noise from outside the hotel was excessive, sound proofing was poor - I also stay in the Europa from time to time and it is much quieter even at the front. The noise would put me off staying again.26 April 2012
