3.5 star ratingI have stayed in this hotel (previously the Wyndham) 6 or 7 times in the last 8 years. I love the location and the hotel. Apart from my two complaints below I do enjoy staying there and will be hoping to return next year. When I arrived last year it was in the middle of refurbishment and there a fair bit of noise and inconvenience. When I left the receptionist suggested I ask for an upgrade next time I stayed at the hotel. When I arrived this time I asked and was told I was being given a room with a pool view. The room faced the pool but I could not see it. It was some distance away beyond the roof of the conference areas which was between the room and the pool. Secondly, on my first night at the hotel I decided to eat at the bar area. I spoke to the head waitress who asked me to take a seat and she would bring a menu. I waited for more than twenty minutes while she stood at the bar between tyding up and putting things away. I think she had forgotten me and when she arrived she brought a much needed glass of iced water. I ordered my meal and a glass of beer. It was a very hot day and I finished both the water and beer quickly. She did not return to the table until she brought my meal. She laid it down and walked away without asking if I wanted anything else, or before I had a chance to ask for more water. I was so angry I just finished the meal and returned to my room for some water. Poor service and very unprofessional. I ate at the bar a few nights later when there was different staff on and the service was back to the usual high standard 11 October 2011
