3.5 star ratingHelpful, professional and friendly staff; great breakfast; commun areas look fantastic; great location just a short walk from Town Centre; very nice health centre and gym.We were very disappointed with the room we got for our anniversary weekend break. The rooms presented on the website look completely different from the one we've got... :( All the furniture were really old and tired. Coffee table, dressing table, chairs, sofa, wardrobe... all were either with the fabric broken and ripping apart or with the wooden surface chiped and stained. I confess I didn't sit on the sofa or left my clothes on it. The only place I felt comfortable staying was on the bed that looked and felt very clean. The gap between the carpet and the wall had a deep and thick layer of dust very visible. To use the hair dryer close to the mirror, I had to move the dressing table a bit forward to plug it on the wall. That's fine, what wasn't fine was to then find loads of tisues and objects left from previous guests behind it, plus more dust. The kettle was dirty outside and inside. Outside smeared in dry stains of coffee and dust and inside, limescale bild-up. The room felt very tired, pale and if had been through the years without any sort of maintenance or care. I didn't feel relaxed as it wasn't cosy, or excited as was boring, with no personality. Very much like staying in a old lady's room other than a hotel. The toilet had a very strong smell of dump, even though it looked a bit more modern. The bath was dirty and my plans of using it completely changed. It had a very evident black line of mold running all along the tiles between the bath and the wall. On the curtains, more mold plus those yellow marks of old fabric. The shower was very powerful and with a great temperature control, but yet again, moldy. I don't think it was a good value for money. The place have surely seen better days...10 October 2012
4.0 star ratingAsk for a refurbished room. We were initially offered an old room - even after confusion over the hotel not having the reservation. The room was threadbare, and the heating did not work - in December! We were moved to family room 139 which was really quite nice. After booking with Hotelopia and confirming the reservation directly with the hotel in September, we were very disappointed to discover that even though we had a Hotelopia voucher, the hotel had no record of our Christmas vacation. Not what you want to hear after travelling from SE Asia with a 6 year old. Luckily the Majestic had availability. If not, our holiday would have been ruined. NealA28 December 2012

4.5 star ratingFantastic interiors, truly "Majestic". More like staying in an old stately home than in a hotel. The dining/breakfast room is enormous and well laid out. The room was clean and reasonable sized. Staff were friendly. Leisure facilities as wel which was very handy! The location is brilliant for the Harrogate convention centre.Didn't get an extra blanket on the first request. Staff at gym/pool could do with some friendliness training. Also showers didn't gave hot water in leisure centre.Jeeves24 March 2013
1.5 star ratingHaving a disability, I went to some considerable trouble to book a room with required facilities. You helped me all you could with this request, even ringing the hotel on my behalf. I also confirmed this personally speaking to the person you had spoken to. When we arrived they had booked us in a double when we had booked a twin, I was travelling with my sister. The room they allocated was the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in, a disgrace for a 4* hotel to let. The facilities were not as requested and the staff very unhelpful.SMITHY03 May 2013
5.0 star ratingFriendly staff and excellent facilities. Right near the town centreDisappointed at the cost of a single room. I can understand the cost being higher for single occupency for a double room but my room was a single room with a single bed so would have thought the cost would be half a double room.Lindylou02 July 2013
4.5 star ratingIt was great value and staff very helpful.Only one member of staff was not very pleasant but she was only there for one morning breakfast. She really needed some people skills.02 July 2013
5.0 star ratingall the staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were perfect! 04 August 2013
4.5 star ratingFriendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.Sadly had erratic or non existent internet coverage in my room.....very inconvenient! Fail to understand why hotel residents have to pay daily parking fees. 25 August 2013
2.5 star ratingArrived at hotel at 11.30, I checked with reception what the checking in time was, and I was told it was from 2.00, we left the car in the car park and went into harrogate for lunch. We returned to the hotel at 2.10 to be confronted with a chaotic scene, there was a large queue of people at reception who were clearly angry. When we eventually got to the front of the queue we were informed that our room was not ready due to a " large checkout that morning" we informed the staff on the desk that we were meeting friends for a party at 4.00 and we needed to get in the room to shower and change. We were told to wait in the bar and come back again in 20 minutes. The 2nd attempt we made to check in was even more chaotic, this time the queue was larger and for some reason only 2 staff were on the desk, an elderly couple in front of us had come from a wedding, they had hoped to check into their room and return to the wedding, after 20 minutes of waiting they gave up, as there were no staff about I had to help them with their luggage back to the car. Eventually after 2 hours we got to our room, which was very disappointing, dated with a poor bathroom and furniture. When we checked out the following day we were again met with a large queue, the staff were abrupt and did not ask if we had enjoyed our stay Will not be going backGaz and Bec08 October 2013
5.0 star ratingThe hotel is surprisingly close to the town centre, the room price very reasonable. The room I got was big, fresh and very comfortable with modern and elegant furniture. I had my dinner in the city so only had breakfast in the hotel, which was in included the price. Whilst booking it is named traditional English breakfast, but apart from it there is muesli of course, selection of fruit and wide range of bread. Some breads are freshly baked, I tried plain and olive ones and still remember their beautiful taste. The hotel swimming pool is small but at least in price and I had over an hour of peaceful swim. The Hotel Majectic was a great experience.ela18 May 2014

5.0 star ratingBrilliant - Beautiful and majestic indeed and it was cheaper than the price quoted on the website with breakfast included. An all round winnerNoneAnonymous 23 July 2014
4.5 star ratingVery helpful staff on reception. Excellent leisure facilities. Great pool, sauna and jacuzzi. We were one of only 4 tables in the restaurant early on Sunday evening. Despite this we did not get our wine until we had started our main course. Then they brought my wife a red wine instead of the white wine she had ordered!Anonymous 17 September 2014
2.5 star ratingSwimming pool and convenience to town.Majestic - I think not! More like a 2 star hotel. Our room was shabby, grubby and dated, even though we were promised a nice room when I made the booking. Also, there was a long queue at breakfast on one of the mornings while we waited on bacon being cooked for the buffet. Overall the hotel did not live up to our expectations and was very disappointing. benzie626 July 2015
3.5 star ratingFood was fine, staff were helpful.Paid extra for a premium room but definitely not value for money. The bed was tucked away at one end of the room. There was only one small window by the head of the bed, making the rest of the room very dark. The view from the window was beyond belief, There was a wall at right angles from the edge of one side of the window, this wall being about 20 metres long and 4 or 5 stories high. Being on the first floor, the rest of the view was of the roof of the ground floor, with dirty skylights and vents the most prominent feature. My recommendation would be to ask for photos of your exact room before booking.Bob12 December 2015
3.0 star ratingMany of the staff were very friendly and efficientThis hotel has four stars. Room 323 which was ours is most definitely not four star rating. Also we were charged £8 for parking per day. On my booking form which unfortunately I overlooked until returning home, it stated £5 for parking per day. This hotel clearly needs to be reviewed for star rating. Its rather tired because of its extremely large building, obviously time or money won't cover. Redeeming feature is location, but its too expensive nowadays.Anonymous 16 April 2017
4.0 star ratingroom clean service good staff excellent good parking close to townWi-Fi limited, the picture on the booking page is of a premium room and when you make a booking of a standard room this is what you think you are getting the hotel should show a picture of both and add the prices and let the customer make up their own mind as to what they want, I looked at the picture and thought great booked the standard room and was disappointed when I got there to me it was a bit of false advertisement ian bunting17 July 2017
