2.5 star ratingThe only thing positive is that the staff were very friendly. But that is not surprising given the other problems that we had. Despite their friendlyness they apparently could do nothing regarding our complaints.Our room (204) was noisey until 1am as there was an even at the function room. In addition the room was noisey very early in the morning (I'm guessing about 5am ish). I'm guessing the morning noise was as the room was close to a staff lift and I can only assume that the noise was coming from this. So if you want to sleep more than 3 hours in your night don't stay here. When I discussed this with the receptionist she stated that there was nothing that the Hilton could do to rectify as the bill was paid through the Hotelopia website. This is clearly wrong as there is always something that the hotel can do. Booking and paying in advance through websites in this way is standard practice and stating that there is nothing that they can do because the bill was already paid is poor. In addition to the above: 1. We were confused as to why we had to wait for about 15-20 mins in the hotel reception upon check-in given that we arrived at approx.. 16:30. I would have thought the rooms would have been ready by then? 2. The room was booked as a triple standard. But room 204 is not a triple standard. So apparently our room was changes AFTER booking. Maybe the triple standard was in a quiet section of the hotel? 3. The room itself had problems. The bathroom door did not shut properly, bath did not drain properly, bath in poor condition. 4. The food: Beef stroganoff was primarily mushroom, with very little beef. The child’s portion of pasta was overcooked and inedible by our daughter. The pork was overcooked and the crackling soft and just soggy fat. Overall a very poor hotel experience. Anonymous 17 November 2015
5.0 star ratingBreakfast had a good variety, was very good and staff very friendly. We used the pool facilities where again, the staff were very friendly. We reported the smell of cigarette smoke to the front desk and it was dealt with professionally and promptly as this is a none smoking hotel.Anonymous 02 November 2015

3.5 star ratingwe had a few issues on check in as no note of our twin room booking had been received by the hotel, they only had a double for us. This appeared to be an issue with how the 3rd party booking tool and hotel systems communicate, however they did manage to rectify this, eventually. The staff in the bar and breakfast area were nice and friendly. we had a room on the 2nd floor that I'm guessing was above a function room - Christmas music and the sound of drunk people screeching until gone 0130 and then at 0515 the hotel staff started to clear the room up as we were both woken up by the sound of furniture being stacked and wheeled about - it's amazing how anything being wheeled on casters can sound so noisy at the time of the morning - sound carries!!! we both got about 3 hours sleep which was not great. 3.0 star ratingNatasha bar area was helpful, Hollie reception on check out very efficient. Checking in was messy. Pool looked great unfortunately didn't get time to try. Room was very hot, bed wasn't to good. Poor nights sleep. Shower was shocking, zero power, water trickled out. Guinness in bar started well quickly went down hill, bar staff were great though. 2.5 star ratingReception staff very friendlyRoom was dirty in places, including hair in the bathroom. There were paint chips in the bath tub and the sink. Bed really hard and pillows way too soft. Not enough tea and coffee refreshments given in room. Breakfast was really nice the first morning, however the second morning left a lot to be desired. There were no croissants and the chef was not very happy in his work. I asked for 2 poached eggs, he said he needed to change the water. He never came back out the kitchen, another chef came out but clearly hadn't been told my order so started making others their breakfast. To be honest all in all I was very disappointed with the Hilton. It was my first time staying in one and I think it will be my last. I expected more, but I have had better stays in the premier inn, this is where I will be telling people to go.Anonymous 15 August 2017
