4.0 star ratingThe room was tidy, clean and of decent size for the money paid. Same can be said of the bathroom. The shower was hot, which can not always be said for some hotel rooms. The staff could have been more open and honest in regards to the car park charges - it was something like £8.50 for 24hours, which is good...but if you go over by 1 hour you cant just pay the hourly rate of the car park, they charge you another 24 hour fee. Other than being slightly misleading the staff were friendly 08 May 2013
3.0 star ratingstaff very polite and friendlydoor handle to bathroom was hanging off so could not close door just in case we could not get out, no security lock on the main door, bath slip mate needed replacing was very old and stained, taps sprayed everywhere other than in the sink.18 June 2013
2.0 star ratingThe staff tried to be helpful.I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. The bed was horribly lumpy. I did not dare look at the mattress for fear of what I might see. The CRT TV did not work, I rang reception who apologised and sent a chap up to fix it. Not wishing to discredit the man in anyway as he did nothing wrong, I felt uncomfortable being a female alone with an man, unknown to me, in my room. He said 'when this happens we normally swap the TV for one in another room. As the hotel is full tonight we can't do that. Sorry' so I understand it was not unusual for the CRT TVs to not work. He failed to fix the TV. As I had paid £115 for the room for the night I was very disappointed that I could not watch the program I wanted to. When I looked at the TV remote control it was so filthy I wondered which diseases I may catch from it. The phone was also very dirty. There was a row of tiles detached from the wall in the bathroom and some others loose. The carpet by the bed was threadbare, the tv cabinet was filthy. The chairs in the room were very worn and faded. Most of the bathroom was clean but the sign about re-use of towels was thick with dust. I did not search out the cleanliness of every nook and cranny believing I would be horrified by what I might find. Had I not paid for the room in advance I would not have stayed there. In the information it said that wifi was available free in all the public areas. It turned out to only be available in reception. there were 3 or 4 people trying to find where we could use wifi. When, on the first night, I could not use the tv I spoke to the chap on reception explaining how disappointed I was when the night before I had paid half the money for a room in a hotel offering so much better facilities. He said he would speak to the duty manager in the morning and perhaps I could have some money refunded. When I spoke to another receptionist the next evening she knew nothing. I gave up in despair. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It may have been nice in about 1970 when I guess it was built and the furniture installed.Shannon21 July 2013
2.5 star ratingThe customer service was appalling, much worse than any other UK hotel I have ever stayed in. The reception desk was unmanned at the busiest times, with members of staff walking behind the desk ignoring the queues of people trying to check out. I missed public transport connections because I had to wait for over 10 minutes just to speak to someone to remedy the fact that my key card did not work and then had to wait again to check out. Staff simply could not care less that people were waiting and were finding anything to do rather than serve them. I will never use the hotel chain again and recommend to my friends and colleagues that they do not either. It was completely farcical, given that the only reason the hotel exists is to serve guests. kd28 September 2013
2.5 star ratingNice staff.Door cards reset twice during stay so had to go back to reception to get them enabled, again. A chip under the desk (we didn't eat anything in the room). Air conditioning made a constant hissing noise, but only had a thermostat with no actual off switch. Only one lift worked, so at busy times lots of waiting around and it got full up quickly. Generally took the stairs from the fifth floor. Bath drainage was broken, so it filled up 4-5 inches when someone showered. Whoever went in after had to stand in the water from the other person's shower.Tim22 October 2013
2.0 star ratingThe standard of the room was poor; cobwebs in the curtains, threadbare carpet, towels so old and flimsy. The only hotel I've ever been refused a later check out. This is the first negative review I have ever given a hotel. But felt compelled to because this place is a dump.Unhappy24 February 2014
