4.5 star ratingThere were a lot of good things about this hotel. Room is spacious and has a good layout, staff were accommodating (allocating us a room on a high floor when we arrived to check in, (although they had ignored 2 previous email requests for this), rooms were made up every day when we returned, valet parking guys RUN for your car, buffet breakfast was lovely (omelette station, fresh made waffles and pancakes, fresh fruit, cereal, etc, etc) and a good deal for us as the kids ate free with vouchers we got at check-in - $40 - $50 for breakfast for 4, Starbucks serves ice cream up to 10pm (yum), food at pool bar is good, choice of pools around the lake (there are 5 - one with a lazy river, one with e water slide), view of Epcot fireworks and the lake itself is a lovely sight. We stayed at the Hilton Bonnet Creek the previous 3 years and considered the Wyndham Grand because Hilton had increased room rate and added a resort fee, which doubled the cost. I wasn't disappointed and we are planning a return trip to the Wyndham Grand next year.Pool at hotel is small (compared to the Hilton), so can feel quite crowded when it's busy. They could also use a few more parasols (they are few and far between). Some of the sun loungers look like they have some mould developing on them (black spots) and some of them need to be protected from birds doing a bombing raid (the Hilton has some artificial bird noise that keeps them away - the Wyndham Grand does not). Some of the pool side activities are more successful than other...glitter tattoos - good, pool side dancing - bad. I don't know if there is an issue with sound proofing or if we just had rude neighbours, but we were twice woken early by a screaming child in the room next door (not a distressed child, a spoiled child) who was also running about the room and slamming doors. On the second morning I called reception. I don't know if it was co-incidence or if it was their intervention (they said they would send security), but the noise stopped. We also had a noisy upstairs neighbour on one Saturday night - only 20 minutes but again, the issue for me was sound proofing. Other than that no noise in a 15 night stay. After 15 nights we wanted a late check-out (1pm instead of 11am) before our long return flight to the UK. We were told we could have an hour. That was cut to 30 minutes on the day of departure because the hotel was full. Maid service works to 5pm, so I think if they had made a little effort they could have accommodated us, and they didn't, and that was disappointing. In the end we left the room at 12.30pm and the maid hadn't appeared to make up the room, so it could absolutely have been accommodated. Food in the evening in the Tesoro restaurant is expensive - I'm sure it was $32 for a steak, didn't check-out the other restaurants on site, but you are 10 minutes in a car from hundreds of good places to eat, in all price brackets, so it's not an issue with staying here. I hate the resort and parking fees, added $500 to our bill, but we knew it was coming. Only place I have ever paid a resort fee and car parking charge. Car parking in particular is just a money machine for Wyndham, and they're only able to do this because of the location of the hotel and the fact there are no other parking options. It feels like they take advantage of you. Whilst this won't put me off booking and staying again (I know the cost and it is what it is) it damages my loyalty to the brand.21 August 2013

3.0 star ratingI booked a room for my mom for the weekend because she was celebrating her birthday. Since I had made the reservation, I called the hotel to make sure she wasn't going to have any issues checking in. I was told that it wouldn't be. However, this was not the case. At check-in she was told that since her name was not on the reservation she could not check-in. She was told to give me a call so that I could call the hotel and add her to the reservation. She then later informed me that she had called the front desk to request a late checkout and that she was told "NO", and the person at the front desk had also hung up the phone on her. She did go down to talk to someone since they had been very rude and was told that management had directed them to deny any special requests since they had a convention going on. I was very dissapointed to hear that things did not go very well for my mom on her birthday weekend and I am extremely dissapointed in the Wyndham. I will NOT be returning to this hotel for my futre stays in Orlando. I would suggest the Hilton across the street. The staff members are more professional and don't have any issues accomodating any guest special requests.Anonymous 21 May 2014
