4.0 star ratingMy daughter and I stayed at the Rainbow from Dec.29, 2014 to Jan 1st and we really liked the hotel's unique style which was comfortable with a touch of the 'local' culture and ambience. Since it was xmas time there was a wonderful tree in the foyer with decorations that were created from the natural environment. The staff were busy but were welcoming and always pleasant and helpful. Our room was quite spacious with a large balcony that we did not use but appreciated. Breakfast came with our room and we were happy to have delicious omelets, juice and fresh fruits each day. Each concern that we had was attended to immediately although a solution was not always easily available. We enjoyed the evening entertainers who were fun and professional! When we arrived our air conditioner was not working and a technician came in good time and spent quite a bit of time to ensure that it worked. My only complaint is that it seemed to be stuck at one setting which made it necessary to turn it off and on during the night since the room would get cold. We also had a tear in the mosquito net for one of the beds however, it was immediately replaced by a very efficient and personable staff member. We felt that a new shower curtain that was properly mounted (since what was there was torn and was not strung all the way across in a way to prevent water getting on the floor); attention to the drains in the sink and tub which backed up more than once, a fresh and bright coat of paint would make the Rainbow the hotel of choice on our next trip. 1.0 star ratingIt was walking distance to the town and the falls. Awful hotel, awful experience. Stayed Jan-17. We do NOT recommend this hotel. $400 STOLEN from locked HOTEL SAFE. Believe it was an inside job by hotel staff. Hotel manager did minimal effort to address complaint. Breakfast was poor quality and unhygienic - omelette/egg chef coughing and sneezing & not washing hands afterwards. Found old KFC chicken bones on floor by bed. Air-con was dripping condensation onto floor. Hotel was very run down, pool was very slippery and dangerous. Any other hotel in Victoria falls will be better than Rainbow Hotel. 4.5 star ratingGood place for a one or 2 nights stay. Victoria Falls was an expensive place to stay and the offer we got through Hotelopia was very good. The hotel staff was helpful.
