3.5 star ratingBeautiful hotel which we have visited earlier and enjoyed very much. Good food, nice rooms. This visit we unfortunately got a room with a lot of noice from some kind of machine right outside our window. We changed room the next night, which was no problem, but this room was just one floor higher up and the noice was still there, though not as loud. We really enjoyed our stay last year, and we will probably stay at The George again, but then I will ask for another room .25 July 2011
4.5 star ratingHotel staff all very good . All polite and helpful . Hotel location was great and easy parking at rear . Rooms adequate allthough small and breakfast was excellent quality . The hotel had a lovely feel about it being a charming old building with lots of character . A beautiful real fire in the reception/lounge was always alight creating a warm cosy atmosphere . No major complaints at all .No negative reviews just a few suggestions . At breaklfast the tea/coffee service was slow , NOT the fault of the restaurant staff , perhaps leave a pot on the table for the guest . Also i was carrying alot of luggage due end of trip abroad , very difficult negotiating lots of stairs to room .14 November 2013
4.0 star ratingFull of old world charm, plenty of character including creaking floor boards. Comfortable bed and very clean, great central location.Rooms at the front of the hotel would be very noisy. Rooms are too hot and air conditioning noisy,njh12332103 December 2013
4.0 star ratingEnjoyed my stay but......nothing special and a bit on the pricey side for what it is!! Good customer service and the "Staff" were exceptionally helpful. Telephone didn't work Information book in the room out of date Repairs in room not finished off properlyFrenchy6325 May 2014
3.0 star ratingThe room was very comfortable, and clean, in keeping with the style of the hotel. Plenty of stairs as one would expect with a building of this age, but not a problem, as one expects a hotel of character to be of this nature. The restaurant was given two days notice for a booking for six people, one of whom had special dietary requirements, and we were assured these could be met easily. The table on our arrival was not set for six, nor were the dietary requirements met. We would not recommend the restaurant for a main meal. However, for breakfast it was good. The accommodation was fair as was the cleanliness. We would use the hotel again, due to its location, but only for bed and breakfast, not to entertain guests.Anonymous 03 June 2014
