Hotel Information

Set in acres of private garden and lush meadowland, Thainstone House has been lovingly designed to provide superb levels of hospitality. In the very heart of rural Aberdeenshire, you find yourself in an oasis of tranquillity, in a majestic Palladian Mansion where you can relax in luxury as our friendly staff make you feel immediately at home. Whilst today Thainstone provides the ultimate in four star luxury, it is impossible to escape its impressive history. In the 18th Century, the Jacobites put Thainstone to torch, however James Wilson of Thainstone escaped the fire and fled to America, where he later put his name to the American Declaration of Independence. Under new ownership in the 19th Century, the present mansion was redesigned by renowned architect Archibald Simpson, who was responsible for shaping much of the present day city of Aberdeen. Now considered a great property, Thainstone enjoys elegant furnishings and décor, perfectly complementing the excellent facilities you would expect to find in such a hotel. With many original features and exceptional standards of service Thainstone House Hotel & Spa is renowned for offering 'luxury in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire'. From Aberdeen follow the A96 signposted Inverness. Turn left at the signpost for Thainstone and turn immediately right.

4.5 star ratingexcellent counrty hotel with good leasure complex. Very professional service with excellent dining in the restuarant eat there if you can the food quality and waiting staff are of a high standard I have stayed at the hotel three times now and have had three diferent styles and standard of room. the first was of good 4 star hotel qality and the second was of good standard but more modern but the last room I stayed in (402) was very tired and dated, definetly not to the standard of the rest of the hotelsuper rep15 November 2009
3.5 star ratingI believe the hotel is being refurbished at the moment. great location, quiet. Plenty choice for the breakfast which was appreciated. However the cooked breakfast looked like it had been waiting for me for a while... Dried out black pudding and haggis slice, the yolk of the fried egg was fully cooked. Not quite expected from a 4* hotel. The Hotel is worn out, old dirty sofas here and there, worn out carpets bashed doors...etc. As mentioned above there was notices that parts of the hotel was being refurbished. I would say "just about time. We paid £80 for the room with breakfast which was fine for what we got but I would not have been happy to pay more than that. Also to be mentioned: There should be a dedicated parking for hotel guests as the entire parking was taken up, presumably by the fitness members as there was not that so many people for breakfast. May be a point to consider as I went around the parking 3 times then gave up and parked far away at the top of the parking on the out drive where there was absolutely no light of any kind.. I had to reposition the car as there was little room for the other cars to pass. I went back later on to move the car nearer. I had arrived at 7.30 pm initially. 19 November 2009
3.5 star ratingGreat building, room was clean and well finished/decorated. Evening meal was very good, breakfast was acceptable. Staff were helpful and efficientNo internet access in room, only one TV channel18 September 2010
4.0 star ratingI Found the room comfortable and quiet, just what I need a night before a meeting. Food choice is a little limited and somewhat expensive. Fair choice of wines. Ideally located for Airport and Aberdeen Western Surrounds. Would stay again if in the area.BATTY_113 September 2010
3.0 star ratingThe room was on the small side. The water in the wash hand basin was only lukewarm. The hot food buffet at breakfast was less than lukewarm, in fact would not meet food safety regulations as it was so cool.21 December 2010
3.0 star ratingConvenient for where I was travelling to the next day.No desk/work space with a light. Pipe lagging foam taped tocorners of bed frame. Wallpaper torn and several stains on paper. Poor quality television and poor reception. En-suite bathroom was fine but room is 'tired' and in need of refurb.x23 April 2011
2.0 star ratingIt was local to the venue I was attending. The bathroom was quite largeThe drive was a atrocious and full of potholes. The room was barely big enough to fit the double bed. There was a bucket positioned on the stairs to catch the water from the leaking roof. The carpets were stained and very old, the hotel has definitely seen better days.Mrs 201213 December 2012
