| 2.5 star rating | The reception staff were friendly and did try to sort out payment issues quickly. The room was comfortable and on the whole clean. | There were serious issues relating to the payments made online. The reception staff or the system that they worked with did not acknowledge receipt of payment and insisted on payment being made again even after showing them the online voucher/receipt. I had to access my emails to confirm payment, this was forwarded to the reception team. I then called home to ask my daughter to send me a screen shot of my bank statement to show that payment had in fact been paid a number of weeks in advance. The staff then asked me for a copy of my bank statement!! I refused. Eventually a refund of the second payment was made to me. A similar situation occurred the following morning with another couple, the bride and groom, whose room had been gifted to them, they had to pay again as they did not have access to bank details. The same reason for the non payment was given as the booking website not forwarding the payment, on both occasions a booking website different from the one used was given. We wanted to order a sandwich from room service and were directed to go to the bar. The staff member on duty was abrupt and rude stating that there was a lot going on on that day and that they didn't have time to deliver to a room. We said that we would come back to collect the food. We ordered two roast beef sandwiches which had been invitingly described in the menu, the sandwich arrived, the bread used was similar to that from an average sliced loaf, one of the slices used for mine had obviously been left in the open air as it was dry, verging towards stale. the beef used in the sandwich was not as described in the menu, it was obviously straight from a supermarket packet, plastic in texture, thin and unappetising, salad and crisps were thrown onto the plate as an after thought. We paid just short of £8 for each sandwich. At breakfast we were greeted by the member of staff who took our "room service" order the previous day, she informed us that our booking was for room only and would have to make an additional payment for breakfast. Once again I produced the voucher/receipt for booking which clearly stated that the price of £142.84 included breakfast. Again the booking website was blamed for the inaccuracies which did not appear to be the case. There were no eggs available when I went to the breakfast counter, I asked for some and they were provided quickly, then there was no bacon available, myself and another customer asked for bacon, it took almost 10 minutes for the bacon to be brought out. Overall our experience at this hotel was average, this was, as can be seen as a result of the lack of communication, poor customer service and the quality of the food. | Anonymous | 27 September 2016 |
