4.0 star ratingThe hotel has its own golf course on site. The hotel is beautiful historic building with lots of character in quiet surroundings. Breakfast was very good. The hotel was clean and well maintained.Bedrooms very warm. Radiator could not be turned off. The hotel bar lacked character and had no atmosphere, and the restaurant had a limited set menu. This hotel mainly caters for golfers, conferences and private functions.23 September 2008
5.0 star ratingI thought the hotel was well maintained, staff were friendly. Only comment would be its a shame there is no room service.Only comment would be its a shame there is no room service.14 October 2008
2.0 star ratingSome of the representatives were very polite and friendly. The room was underground which is not acceptable for a 4star hotel. Trash spattered in corners outside of the lobby. The restaurant and the bar were very poorly furnished and decorated, not in accordance with the building.08 December 2008

2.5 star ratingLovely looking Hotel, Should be greatNo idea I was arriving, currently trying to charge me twice. Rooms are at teh backend of the longest corridor in modern world. Carpets are terribly worn and needs refresh. I had great view of internal buildings. Not great for the money. Also no-where near any transport... Very disappointingBusiness Traveller22 June 2009
3.0 star ratingLovely grounds. Friendly and helpful desk staff despite being overbooked through no fault of their ownLong trek to find room, although we did find a short cut later. The carpet was dirty with stains from previous occupants. The bathroom had seen better days. The toilet was not particularly clean, the windows were dirty. The room did not not have a fresh feel about it. The public rooms were not very invitingAnonymous 28 June 2014

4.5 star ratingI have stayed there before and am very happy with the hotel. Beautiful setting, lovely spa, friendly and polite staff, very clean, good facilities. Where my room was was nice and quiet. I will stay there again. The only issues I have noticed are that there is no air conditioning, which meant that I did not sleep well on a very warm night in July, even with the windows open. I think this is probably to do with the age and construction of the building, so I wasn't expecting any. The other issue this time, although it was not a problem last summer, was that at breakfast, I wanted more coffee and there simply weren't enough staff dishing it out, so I only got one cup. I would have been happy to serve myself if a coffee machine had been incorporated into the buffet, but I didn't see one. Either that, or they could give everyone a coffee pot or tea pot at the table, so they would have plenty for refills.Anonymous 22 July 2014
2.5 star ratingLovely groundsCheck in extremely slow (despite there being staff just sitting in the back office) and they upgraded me but then tried to charge me the full rate rather than the discount rate I had secured online. No real welcome or information about the hotel given. Was not allowed to add things to my room bill. Notified them of my disability but was still given a room that reuired me to go up and down steps after getting out the lift. Room very disappointed for price. Small and basic. Clean enough. Could have done with a lick of paint. No free wifi. Booked room only rate but on check out asked if I had taken breakfast - was not advised on checking in that I could add this at this stage. 2.5 star ratingLovely poolEvery piece of furniture in my rooms had stains. The corridor's carpet was very datedCMC17 August 2014
3.0 star ratingLovely setting. Very comfortable beds. Not enough staff on reception, one person who was doing her best. Wasn't helped by the fact that our booking had not been received by the hotel. First room we were allocated was just awful, second room was better. However, the room was in definite need of redecoration, which goes for the whole hotel - it needs a big makeover, everywhere looks faded and tired. I'm not sure how the cost of the room can be justified, we certainly won't be staying there again at that price, we expected more.Anonymous 18 October 2014
