Sekishoin Hotel Wakayama

Mt Koya (Koyasan), located about 1hr 45 min. by rail and cable car from Namba, Osaka, has about 120 temples in precincts covering 99.6 ha. Surrounded by magnificent trees, the temple's newest building for guests was completed in 1990. Facilities are very similar to a ryokan. Unlike a typical Japanese inn, service such as waiting on guests and preparing and picking up bedding is done by those who are training to be Buddhist priests. Guests can also try transcribing sutras or getting deep in meditation known as ajikan. Traditional vegetarian dishes are served.
