Hotel Information

Built in 1868 this hotel offers a sophisticated, Victorian architectural style and traditional hospitality in the heart of the spa town of Buxton. In its immediate vicinity there are a number of shops, pubs, restaurants and the Buxton's opera house is just next to it. The convenient public transport links around it provide great opportunities for those wishing to explore the surrounding area, while the nearby railway station offers good links to other towns and cities. The family-friendly hotel welcomes its guests to the spacious lobby and treats them with everything needed for a comfortable stay. They can have a hearty meal at the onsite restaurant followed by a pint at the atmospheric bar, before heading to their cosy rooms. Guests arriving with their private vehicles can take advantage of the large cap park of the venue.

4.0 star ratingLovely old building with many period features. Large bedrooms which are clean, tidy and well equipped. Short stroll from centre of Buxton and Opera House. Staff helpful and friendly.Room decor a little tired and need of refurbishment. Changing rooms for leisure facilities need major refurbishment but signs saying this is being carried out Dec 2014Andy13 November 2012
3.5 star ratinggood locationroom not cleaned properly, spilled juice on the bedside table, still there next day after housekeeping and all sticky. Bathroom quite small for a 4 star hotel, taps not mixer taps which are quite dangerous if you have young children, so not child friendly. Lots of patched up paint work and wall paper in the hotel and the 'carpeting' or padding on the wall of the lift was coming off. Compared to other 4 star brands i frequently use definitely doesn't match up compared to facilities. Capone1025 November 2012
5.0 star ratingMost of our leisure time goes on holidays and weekends away. We are discerning customers and have never had an unsatisfactory stay with you. Perhaps we've always been lucky but our rooms are always the same (112, 114 or 115) and they are beautiful. The value from the hotel is excellent and the staff are highly professional and curteous. I have only high praise for Puma BuxtonWe have never had anything negative to say about this hotel. 11 December 2012

4.0 star ratingExtremely good value for money, but hotel in need of renovations - however if you like quirkiness - the Buxton Palace is for you!10 May 2013
4.5 star ratingWe enjoyed our stay. The hotel was handy for the shops and the Pavilion and its gardens. As it was adjacent to the Dome we were able to enjoy the Spa and not have far to go given the weather. On another occasion we would attempt to organize ourselves better to enjoy all the facilities the hotel and Buxton have to offer, including the Opera House. Given the inclement weather we appreciated the warmth in our rooms and the fact we had booked an evening meal, also that we could sit in comfort in the bar with our coffee and drinks.Next time we would like to book better weather please!Hel!14 June 2013
5.0 star ratingWe had a fantastic time. Ignore the negative comments about the hotel, the hotel is old and charming, refurbishing it you could lose its charm. The breakfast was fantastic and no problem asking fore gluten free.Pauline02 July 2013
3.0 star ratingThe staff were helpful and the hotel is in a good central position. From the 3rd floor room I have great views of the surrounding countryside. The breakfast was much better than expected and the breakfast omelet was cooked well. The bed was comfortable. The room was tired! and I felt it was overpriced. There is a poor selection of teas and minute biscuits. It smelt so strongly of bleach when I arrived that I went out to buy cheap perfume to spray round to mask the bleach smell. The window wouldn't stay shut without the catch so I had to stand on a chair to open and close it. The hot water for the shower took at least 10 mins to come through. Once using the shower it would settle to hot and then go back to cold. If I adjusted the temperature it it went cold and then far too hot. Anonymous 27 May 2014
