Located beside a main road, this charming hotel lies only 5 km away from the city centre. The airport is located around 10 km away. 5.0 star rating	Room was great - I had a special price as part of the flight so was very pleased. I would have been less pleased paying the rack rate. I have to say that the staff were very polite and very professional. The restaurant manager was superb, but it was strange being waited on by a staff composed entirely of eastern europeans and personnel from the Indian sub-continent rather than friendly locals. Not bad just unexpected.	I had forgotten how much coal fires smell. They do add a nice ambience but log fires would be much better. I had the shin of beef for dinner. The chef obviously has ambitions but this particular main course was not good, dry and tough. The dessert of chocolate fondant was below par. I should have had the duck which looked superb. Also the bar snacks looked great. Very, very happy with the Mecure fine wine policy of offering Gevery Chambertin by the glass at a very low mark up. This policy alone will bring me back and ensure I reccommend this hotel.		23 January 2009

3.5 star rating		Generally the hotel is in need of upgrading. I was applaed to find an adult magazine in the wardrobe which had obviously not been checked prior to my arrival. Had a complaint about the food. I had ordered a starter as a main meal and was shcoked to see the cost, which i hadn't asked for. The cost of Risotto as a starter was Â£5.00 and the cost of the main meal was Â£14.50. I have made a complaint to the hotel but still await the outcome of their investigation.		04 March 2009

4.0 star rating	spacious old building in lovely grounds. Excellent pool and leisure facilities. Very comfortable room, bit tired in the bathroom but not a major issue. desk Lighting poor if yu want to work. handy for city but not in city	meals overpriced and not that special, drinks on the high side too!	ethical traveller	13 March 2009

4.5 star rating	The hotel is set in lovely grounds and had lots of facilties. The room was a good size and in good decorative order. I ordered room service which was delivered promptly and the member of staff was very courteous. Breakfast - very nice with lots on offer	I found the check in rushed and the member of staff didn't explain about where breakfast was, or the time of it and wasn't really very friendly. When I checked out again the member of staff barely spoke to me and it was very rushed. The TV did not have the number of channels it stated and kept switching on to a sky sleep mode - couldn't work out why that was.		22 June 2009
4.5 star rating	All staff were very welcoming, and gave the perfect balance of being professional while not being too formal. Our 5 year old son felt very welcome at the hotel, so I would recommend it to people with young families.	On the first evening we stayed there was a party taking place in the hotel, with very loud music that went on until 2 in the morning. We felt that this was unfair to the other guests staying in the hotel, and for private functions of this kind there should be pre-arranged end time of no later than 12 midnight (at the very latest) to alleviate disturbing the sleep of other guests. This was the only problem we experienced while staying at the hotel, otherwise we had a very positive experience.		02 March 2011
