La Quinta de Sarapiqui Hotel Northern Mountain Zone / Arenal

This stylish hotel is situated in a tropical rainforest resort and is one of the few hotels to be certified by the Costa Rican National Accreditation Commission for sustainable tourism (tourism with sense of responsibility). Situated on a meander of the Sardinal river, some 15 minutes by car from Puerto Viejo, the main town of Sarapiquí, it is surrounded by tropical heliconia and ginger gardens. The hotel is around 2 hours by car from San José and only a few minutes from a wonderful nature trail, the Rainforest Museum, Braulio Carrillo national park and extensive, primary tropical rainforest. The staff are very committed and the hotel is personally run by a Costa Rican family. A small museum exhibits finds from the Pre-Colombian period and a small part of Richard Whitten's famous insect collection.The air-conditioned hotel has a total of 26 rooms, a butterfly and frog garden, a souvenir shop, an Internet terminal, a safe, a cloakroom, a selection of shops, and a restaurant serving culinary delights.
