3.5 star ratingThe hotel is located on the Mijas Rd out of Fuengirola and has parking facilities unlike a lot of the hotels in F'rola. It is only a 5-10 minute drive into town. The Rooms are nice and cleaned daily and the staff are very helpful.The breakfast was somewhat to be desired and as for the orange juice out of the machine...it tasted like car battery acid !! 24 March 2009
4.5 star ratingMy wife and I spent eight days (June 2013) at Hotel Hacienda Puerta del Sol, near Mijas. This is a 4* hotel, so we weren't expecting luxury or fine dining. The hotel was super clean, staff very friendly/helpful. 'Reception staff' spoke excellent English. Breakfast and dinner was buffet style and quantity/quality/choice was really good. There was a good choice of wines/alcoholic drinks at exceptionally reasonable prices. The hotel is in a scenic area. It is quiet - average age of guest 55 (although a few young couples/families were there during our stay). The hotel trades heavily on bus tours with an overnight stay/early depart. This is an advantage to other guests as the hotel/poolside is never congested and it is easy to get a sunbed by the pool. There is no loud music anywhere in hotel (even around the pool in daytime) -a massive plus! No-one diving into pool either - so you can relax and enjoy the sun. There was no entertainment at night when we were there but guests enjoyed evening drinks on the terrace after dinner and basically chilled out. A car is a must if you want to take trips around the area. The hotel is not well sited for walking. Mijas, by car, is five minutes away. There is a regular bus service during the day to Mijas/Fuengirola - leaves from side of hotel and costs a few euro. In conclusion, this hotel is ideal for a quiet, relaxing, peaceful holiday in very pleasant surroundings. The beds/mattresses in the hotel are basic (but very clean). There is some tolerable (unless you are neurotic!) road noise during the day which can be heard in the gardens/ pool area, as the side of the hotel is close to the main road from Fuengirola to Mijas. Traffic lessens in the evening and the noise disappears. There is an absence of notices (or badly placed notices) advertising hotel services eg that Wi Fi is available, where pool towels can be obtained etc. Seasoned Traveller28 June 2013
