This hotel is located on the island of Murano. A boating jetty, glass museum and the basilica of S.S. Maria e Donato can all be found in the near vicinity. Quietly located about 15 minutes from the city centre, the hotel lies about 2 km from Venice's Marco Polo airport. This elegant hotel comprises a total of 26 rooms spread across a main building and an annexe. Appointed in Venetian style, facilities here include a lobby with a reception desk and safe. The rooms, which have been kept in Venetian style, offer modern comforts and all come with a bathroom with hairdryer, a double or king-size bed, a direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, high-speed Internet access, a minibar and a hire safe. The air conditioning and heating are individually regulated. Some rooms also feature a terrace. Both wheelchair accessible and non-smoking rooms are available on request.

2.0 star ratingThe Hotel appeared cleanBreakfast was appalling. No Coffee for the two days we were there (coffee machine broken). The fruit juice (another machine) was poor. Cereals had to be eaten out of a cup, no cereal bowls. The only other food was individually wrapped toast or croissants, both of poor quality. There was no butter for the toast. During our time in Italy we stayed in six hotels, all three star. The Venice Hotel breakfast was by far the worst. 23 September 2008

3.0 star ratingLocation is great, easy walk from the vaporetto (including airport boat); Murano is a lovely quiet place to stay, away from the bustle of Venice proper. Having to get the vaporetto every time you want to go anywhere else has its good side as well. We would go there again. There don't seem to be any other hotels on Murano (though I could be wrong) so the Conterie is the one! The air conditioning worked. We would recommend it too.Room was small, but this is Venice, so that isn't a complaint! However, the beds were made up separately and kept moving away from each other! The shower was diabolical: water shot out horizontally from the side of it, and the hot took very long to arrive so you turned it right up, then the cold took very long to arrive so you got scalded. The wifi was extremely slow, and not cheap. The wifi was the worst thing. The staff were rather brusque and we got the impression that complaining about anything was pointless. However, they were very knowledgable (about where to take the vaporetto, how to pay etc) and spoke good English. Breakfast was "very Italian", just enough to take the edge off and get you to the pastry shop near the vaporetto stop.Quick Brown Fox10 June 2009
