Excellently situated close to the M6 at Junction 34 and right on the banks of the Lune River, it is ideal for those who want to explore Lancaster or who are simply passing by and looking for a modern and comfortable accommodation. The former can find a bus stop outside the main entrance, making it easy for them to reach the city centre, while the nearby picturesque Lake District and beautiful Lake Windermere or Morecambe Bay, are perfect for a day trip. The latter will appreciate the modern spa club, which includes an indoor pool, sauna and a hot tub, while the gym-goers can also maintain the workout schedule at the fitness centre. Dining couldn't be easier, with à la carte and table d'hôte menus in the informal and relaxed atmosphere on the in-house restaurant.

2.5 star ratingHandy location for the M6 motorway. Fairly good choice at breakfast.The swimming pool at the hotel is very small and when we used it on the Saturday afternoon there was a children's birthday party going on in it! Needless to stay there was no to do any swimming at all. The shower didn't work at all- no water came out! When we told the receptionist when we checked, out all she had to say was to write to the Hotel manager and she said that if we did this then we get get a partial refund. We did write to the hotel manager with the complaint about the shower and she just treated it as feedback rather than a valid complaint. We didn't get any money refunded, just 2,000 Holiday Inn priority bonus points. Well bearing in mind that you need 25,000 points to have a one night stay at a Holiday Inn we thought that the 2,000 points she gave us as a compensation measure was pathetic. I would suggest that people travelling to Lancaster use the Premier Inn, it's cheaper, more comfortable and the staff are very helpful. well-travelled24 March 2011
