5.0 star ratingWhen drawing the hairdryer issue to the attention of the reception desk we were kindly(and efficiently) allocated another room which was much appreciated. The hairdryer in room 103 was heating up but the fan was not working so we felt it was quite dangerous.Sunny Jim28 March 2011
4.5 star ratingI last stayed in a Holiday Inn Express about seven years ago, which was OK without being exceptional. This time I was pleasantly surprised, by the room (bigger) the staff (charming and efficient) and the breakfast (not served from a machine!). I would certainly stay at HIE again.29 March 2011
Hans30 October 2011
4.0 star ratingThe hotel was clean, comfortable and made for a very pleasant stay near Canterbury. The breakfasts were very good, we did not sample the evening meals.Hotel difficult to spot while driving down the A2, more signing urgently needed. To overshoot meant laboriously retracing ones steps back along the A2 - not helped by the 'no right turn' rules along this stretch of road.19 October 2011
5.0 star ratingBrillitant value. professional and friendly staff. Breakfast area was quite small. (Although you could take your tray to conference room)nekomata28 October 2011
3.5 star ratingThe staff were courteous and helpful and the room was clean and as always adequate for a short stay. The cooked breakfast on day one was dried up and unappetising, I have experienced better with Travelodge with more choice. The quilts only just provide enough cover and I am not a large person, I imagine anyone larger would have to book a double bed. Also it may be an idea to leave an extra blanket for the winter as the quilts are not thick. I appreciate there is heating in the room but this is not always adequate.sue28 November 2011

4.5 star ratingStaff were very friendly and helpful Rooms were clean Good location for visiting Canterbury Food ordered was good but slightly expensive Breakfast was ok (coissants were really delicious though) but could have been better if there was more selection on Hot Food and better tasting coffee. Drinks were expensive03 April 2012
1.0 star ratingNothing whatsoever. Without doubt the worst hotel experience of my life. I will never stay at a Holiday Inn again. Arrived at the hotel after an evening out to be told (after waiting at the desk for quarter of an hour or more) that I didn't have a room because of an unspecified 'problem'. This despite my confirming the reservation earlier in the day. It took over an hour of intense arguing, at one o clock in the morning, to get them to give me a room (which it seems therefore that they had all along). Never got an explanation, just excuses and downright lies. Utterly disgraceful shambles of an experience. Breakfast inedible. Tim17 April 2012
4.5 star ratingThis is one of the best budget hotels I've stayed in. Room was clean, light and bright and very well laid out. Breakfast was better than expected with fruit, yoghurt, pastries, sausage, eggs and beans as well as toast. Plenty of free parking. However, there is a dearth of local eateries. We did, however, find a great pub with lovely food in the little village of Dunkirk, back down the A2. Being located on the A2 does mean you have to travel up and down it to find a junction to turn the right carriageway to get to the hotel. However, I thoroughly recommend staying there for a great rate.23 April 2012

4.0 star ratingThis was the 3rd Holiday Inn Express we have used. The standard was very good (and consistent across all 3) Definate value for money We will continue to look for "Express" hotels in the future03 May 2012

4.5 star ratingI unfortunately left my phone charger in my room. The hotel have been very helpful and are posting it to me at no charge. The bar was open until late and the rooms more than fit their purposeBreakfast could have had a little more choice but this is a very minor complaintScott04 July 2012

3.0 star ratingDecent Rooms The hotel took payment for our room twice, and we're still trying to get the money back!! bailey09 July 2012
4.0 star ratingClean and well-equipped. Good that breakfast is included in the priceReturned after being out all day to find that housekeeping had left our room door open and ajar...anyone could have gone in and stolen whatever they fancied. Thankfully we hadn't left anything in the room worth stealing and nothing went missing. Our room was the nearest to Reception on the ground floor. It became noisy at times, especially in the early evening. There was a dividing door to the accommodation area which, had it been kept closed would have made it quieter. I closed the door only for a staff member to open it again informing me that the door had to be kept open except at night. The door was clearly marked "Fire Door Keep Closed". I find it worrying that there are standing instructions in this hotel to staff to deliberately keep a fire door open!!20 February 2013
4.5 star ratingI was very surprised by how much I enjoyed my stay. The room was a good size and the bathroom first class. The staff were all very helpful and extremely polite. Dinner in the evening was good but breakfast could have been improved, if the food was warmer. Would certainly use this hotel again. 23 February 2013
4.0 star ratingSpacious and light rooms. Rooms on groundfloor have nice view on forest and rabbits running around ! Easy and free access to computers. Nice, helpful and friendly staff.Heating system not very efficient. Needs upgrading. Absence of fitness room and board games at reception for snowy Linda 07 April 2013
4.5 star ratingno problems finding hotel. convenient location. friendly/helpful reception staff. could hear conversations clearly from guests in corridor and adjoining rooms. soundproofing would be most appreciated.sunshine118 June 2013
4.5 star ratingStaff were very welcoming and efficient and the breakfast was very good. The room was a good size and spotless. Overall very good value for money. The discounted fare arrangements with a local taxi firm, Cab Co, for travel into Canterbury were very useful, the service was quick and their drivers very helpful.Ransford19 June 2013
3.5 star ratingHotel was clean, room was of good standard, we just ate breakfasts at the Hotel so we offer no opinion on food quality !, We had a 5 nights stay at the Hotel. The Hotel (in my view) caters for people on a short stay - waiting to catch a cross channel ferry from the U.K. and hence the difficulty on being able to access the North bound lanes of the A.2 road, this needs a detour of at least a couple of miles each time you leave the hotel wishing to travel north bound, and of course vice versa when arriving at the hotel from the south.Welshboy16 August 2013
4.0 star ratingNice room, comfortable bed and good showerBreakfast was average , much better at a Premier Inn. Evening meal was quite nice all the same.Whitecsp7524 September 2013

4.5 star ratingI was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the room was. It was very clean. Food was also good. Traveller01 October 2013
3.5 star ratingclean comfortable hotelbreakfast is rubbis with poor quality food and the layout around the self service area is poorly designed causing congestion17 September 2013
3.5 star ratingLocation is not the greatest, access is through the local petrol station to get to the hotel. The room was absolutely fine, not to a great standard but certainly nothing was wrong. It was clean, well lit and moderately well furnished, it worked as a place to sleep for the night, for which it was designed. Dining room is more an office canteen and currently undergoing renovation, Breakfast was included in the price and was more than adequate, although severely limited in choice, particularly the cooked food. Would I recommend the hotel? On balance yes, it was fine for the money but don't expect too much.15 October 2013
4.5 star ratingVery good value for money. The staff were very good.John Beecher01 November 2013
5.0 star ratingAs I do not stay in hotels very often, I did enjoy my brief stay overnight and would certainly use this particular hotel again if the opportunity arose. I would like to mention that I am in my eighties and would be quite happy to return on my own although this time I was accompanied by members of my family. Shower room facilities were easy to use as were the tea and coffee making facilities also (although a few more teabags wouldn't go amiss) and the TV worked well which was important as I go to bed late and get up early! Lovely breakfast! Anonymous 22 July 2014
