3.5 star ratingWe were pleased with our room even though it overlooked the bin store, though we considered that this was probably why we payed a reasonable price. When we arrived at reception there was a gentleman complaining of the same dynamic. Never a good start to a stay. We took full advantage of the pool and gym and as a consiquence had a really good stayVery slow in the restaurant. The couple next to us waited half an hour for their boiled egg and the toast was burned. We were given soup spoones for our cereal, had to ask for tea and coffee, and cinnamon sugar as it said on the menu. The staff were pleasant enough, just seemingly lacked training.Lucy10 September 2010
3.5 star ratingThe Staff were extremely nice, professional and so willing to accommodate our needs. The rooms were very large and clean. A bit tired, but warm and bright (especially good on a dull Scottish day) The pool and other facilities were nice, very clean, so we couldnt complain. The food was terrible. For a 4 star I would have expected good quality ingredients, but much to our disappointment everything was deep fried, and very bland. We ordered waffles and maple syrup from the breakfast menu, the waiter came to say they didnt have waffles but could do pancakes. This was fine but when it arrived, the pancakes tasted like kippers as they had been cooked in the same pan. I did complain about my steak pie on the 2nd night and it was fully compensated off my bill, so I couldnt have asked for more. The staff didnt make a fuss about this at all and were very sorry I hadnt enjoyed it. I would still consider going back, but if the food was still awful, we would eat outside the hotel. 18 October 2011
