The eco hotel overlooks the western shores of the St Lucia Estuary. It is 20 metres away from the estuary, 100 metres away from the main street and just 2 km away from the beach. The centre of town is all within walking distance. The reserve is rich in cultural and conservational history, with Zulu battles having been fought here. This area also was the private hunting grounds to King Shaka. It is home to Africa's Big 5 as well as cheetah, wild dog, hyena and general game species.
