4.0 star ratingI had some troubles while trying to find an accomodation in Algiers - there were either cheap and dodgy options or really expensive hotels. Dar El Ikram seemed to be in between, so I booked it and wasn't disappointed. The hotel has a very good central location, next to Sacre Coeur church and just a few meters to one of the main streets - Didouche Mourad. I felt very safe there even when walking at night. The hotel itself is modern and clean - cleaning ladies clean the rooms every day. All staff was extremely nice, helpful and friendly. There's a breakfast included in the price. Besides all that, wifi was working very well, and rooms are equipped in tv with plenty international channels. The only disadvantage I noticed was not a very nice smell in the room - there were probably some problems with the pipes in the bathroom (but maybe it was only in my room).  Its cheap, The staff are friendly and helpful, felt comfortable the hotel was secure and nothing would be stolen from rooms, location fairly central. If I have to return to Algeria on a budget I would stay here again. My advice to any first time visitors to Algeria, change money with street money dealers near the ministry of justice, rate is about 30% than the official rate. Wifi can be a little week at times, although work well in reception area. breakfast is quite simple and not very exciting. Oliver11 February 2014
