| 4.5 star rating | Very friendly and helpful staff, facilities were clean. Good parking facilities. A pleasant quiet area yet close to the town. | Had problems with light bulbs and shower fans not working. Also arriving back at the hotel at 10.15 p.m. to find the bar closed and only bottled beer available from reception. | 22 April 2009 | |

| 2.0 star rating | I ordered two rooms online and was under the impression that they were non smoking. When I got the rooms I found that one was a smoker awith a terrible terrible smell of cold smoke and ash. The reception told me that a smoke-free room is only a "request" and cannot be promised. Basically I was told that my expectations of a room to sleep in that does not smell bad is wrong. So I had no choice but to sleep in an ashtray with a child who constantly complained about it. the other room was non-smoking, but the odor in there was bad as well - but also that room has not felt fresh air for many many days. The bathroom walls of the ashtray room were covered in mould and dirt (between the tiles), some of the wood trimmings was rotting off, the ventilator in the bath was so noisy it woke anyone up, and the cooler grill was full of dirt. The walls of the room were not really nice and clean either, lots of scuffs and holes. All in all, this was supposed to be 2.5 stars, but I have been to Hotels without any star ratings which were much much better. I took pictures of everything, just in case I ever need rem inding. My honest recommendation: Stay away. | TeeGee | 15 December 2009 | |

| 2.0 star rating | as soon as we arrived we opened our window we was on the ground floor and a cleaner began smoking right outside our window. we went out for the evening came back at around 11:30pm and got to our room and could hear people running up and down the corridor. At 4:20 we had our bedroom window open as it was hot and was woken up by girls shouting outside our room. At 7:00am we were woken up by constant walking in the room above us for about 2 hours, the floor boards were so squeeky that we could not get back to sleep. told the person at reception as we were leaving before check out time because we had had enough and he said did you phone '0' for reception we said no we had had enough you wouldnt have been able to stop anything and then he said all i can do is apologise but he didnt seem to care. We were very unhappy with our stay and will not use this branch of hotel again. in future we will use premier inn it may be more expensive but we have always had great stays and they offer a money back guarentee if you dont have a good nights sleep | 04 October 2011 | ||
| 2.5 star rating | Location, staff were friendly. | Wallpaper peeling off in places, cleanliness could have been better. Very thin walls/ceiling - could hear next door and upstairs, which was very disappointing. | 08 January 2012 | |
| 3.0 star rating | Good location, good choice of facilities | Room not as clean as could be and needs modernisation/repairs to several areas. Shower pipe was broken which seems a simple thing that could have been fixed | Callie | 16 December 2011 |
| 2.5 star rating | Very Basic only stay if nowhere else available, needs a complete refurbish, def not up to standard of some of the other Brittania hotels weve stayed at | Toby Jug | 11 June 2013 | |
| 4.0 star rating | Great value. | Oyster Boy | 31 July 2013 | |
| 1.5 star rating | The carpets were absolutely abismal. The common areas of the hotel were very shabby and cluttered. The room itself was very small with only a tiny section of the window that could be opened. There were no fans provided. The bathroom was acceptable. There were a few spiders lurking in the corners of the roo. Denoting a lack of diligence from the cleaning staff. However the bath, basin and bo were clean. I shall not be staying here again. | unhappy | 30 July 2013 | |
| 1.5 star rating | I would like to be positive. However one would expect a 187 room hotel to have the ability to provide sandwiches and/or light snacks teas/coffees etc during the daytime. I was directed to a pub down the road at 3pm in afternoon. | There was a dripping noise in my room from the moment I arrived this caused me a sleepless night. At 4.30am I demanded a complaint form and was directed instead to a comments form. At no time did the night porter try and find out why I was angry and upset. An absolute lesson in how not to run a hotel. A complete disgrace and a hotel group I will never use again. No food or drink until 5.30 in the evening is another example of how not to run a hotel, this was juxtaposed with numerous signs banning guests from bringing food and drink into the hotel, a further insult. All in all an utter disgrace. | Anonymous | 11 March 2014 |

| 3.0 star rating | This was a single night business trip. I slept very well in a comfortable bed. This is very important to me. | The bar meal I had was not great and breakfast the following day was almost inedible. | Anonymous | 15 October 2016 |
