The hotel is situated on the shores of one of the Lake District's most beautiful locations at the top of a private driveway, about 2.5 km away from the centre of Bowness. The hotel can comfortably trace its origins back to the 1900s, when the stone walls of the original hotel first graced the banks of Lake Windermere. There are 57 rooms in total. Guests are welcomed in the lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services and a hotel safe. Guests can enjoy a drink at the bar and dine in the breakfast/dining room. The rooms are traditionally decorated and equipped with a TV, a radio alarm clock and a hairdryer. All are en suite with a shower and bathtub. Standard in-room amenities include a direct dial telephone, Internet access and tea and coffee making facilities. Guests are invited to take a refreshing dip in the indoor swimming pool.

Beautiful views of the lake from restaurant and balcony.Decor a bit dated and our room was on the main road, however we spent little time in there and some of the other rooms on the opposite side of the hotel looked nicer. 21 July 2013
3.0 star ratingThe web site said there was a sauna and indoor swimming pool however there was a solarium and swimming pool. Very disappointing. The view out my very small window was the exhaust of a car in the car park as the rooms are lower than the car park. (he paint was peeling on the windows and there was mildew on them in the restaurant there was a hen party on the Saturday night which was directly above our room. It was so loud I had to complain. It did get slightly lower but was not the ambience I was expecting. However the outside grounds of the hotel were beautiful the room was very disappointing for the cost of it. I would not stay there again.30 October 2013
3.5 star ratingHotellets läge vid Lake Windermere var perfekt, våra rum hade utsikt över sjön och var väldigt vackert. Badrummet var skinnande rent och rummet var ombonat och bekvämt. Personalen var snabb, vänlig och effektiv. Maten som serverades var god och man använde sig av mycket lokalt pruducerade produkter. Våra rum saknade någon form av säkerhets/"safety"box, dörrens lås var inadekvata och hade nog inte förhindrat inbrott. Sängarna i våra två rum var mjuka och obekväma. Det fanns rikligt med fett fläckar på gardinerna som nog inte hade tvättats på längeMDR26 August 2014
3.0 star ratingThe staff in the restaurant were good and the dinner was good but a little expensive !Never again will we be booking through hotelopia. We booked and paid well in advance, only to find we had been allocated the worst room in the hotel. We suspect that the hotel management allocated the worst rooms to guests using third party web sites because the third party would be receiving a fee for their service. Our room was number 90. It was 74 stairs (yes that is 74) with no lift from the car park to our room. The room was in the attic and had no view of the lake, in fact the window we did have was so high that you had to stand on tiptoes to see out, only to see a wooded hill! The ceiling was inclined because we were in the attic and twice I knocked my head on the ceiling. Thoroughly unsatisfactoryAnonymous 24 July 2015
